So what are we alll happy about then?

Post by inflatable dalek »

An unashamedly cheerful thread: What things in the world at the mo are puting a smile on your face, to counter the suffering, pain and Nick Cage?

For me that includes:

All three seasons of Survivors being re-released at half the price they were originaly. After Buffy and the X-Files it's nie that just for once I didn't pump for the more expensive sets.

Will Wheaton on the Thundercats documentary moaning about how annoying Snarf was. now he knows how the rest of us felt about Wesley.

The fact it's now been scientificly proven Brian Blessed is loudr than a low fying jumbo jet.

That I have the next 3 days off from work is what makes me happy right this minute.
Reading the Essential Iron Man comics I just got brings me joy for some reason. I don't know why, they just do.
Kokanee makes me happy too. Think I'll go have one, or three...

  • Having the opportunity to sleep in and not feel the slightest bit guilty about it
  • My wonderful friends, who are amazingly patient with me even when I don’t call them for weeks at a time because I am being buried alive in my work and studies.
  • er…um…casual…debauchery
  • Good wine
  • Various projects from Mike Patton, DJ Shadow, Skinny Puppy, etc, etc, etc…
  • Kittens and puppies. They make me squeal with delight and because I am unable to have pets in my dinky little studio it makes me wuv ‘em more.
  • Occasional alone time. Got to recharge, you know. It doesn’t make me feel as happy, per say as it does content
  • Art.
  • Gender studies. It’s one of my passions, thus makes me happy.
  • Transmetropolitan TPBs. Because monstering is fun.
  • Health and fitness. Just makes me feel great!
  • Just saw the live performance of Hedwig and The Angry Inch. It was so much fun! It made my day. Just good campy fun!
  • When the students in my discussion section actually engage the material, true it’s a bit self-indulgent of me, but it’s just a wonderful feeling.
  • Good cartoon comedy.
  • Most Tim Burton flicks. They’re just plain fun.
  • Massages

Oh, he knows. In fact, he hates him, too. ;)

I'm happy that I've finally got bigger problems than the fact that I don't have a girlfriend. It's put a lot of that crap into perspective.

The 25th Anniversary Collection of small joes (not only are collector excited about this, but a lot of retail stores are starting to buzz about it. I'm hoping this leads to further trade paperbacks of the old material or a revival of the comic packs, as well as the cartoons on DVD (I really enjoyed the episodes on the cd that came with some of my single-pack figures, but I missed out on the dvd sets).
The 8" scale Joes. Those are incredibly well-done, and thanks to them, I'll be able to finally experience the legendary "Kung-fu grip!"

The classics line, which has provided the perfect stopping point for my tf collection (aside from a few odd figures that I missed), since everything has come full-circle.

I was going to mention his blog, it's a great read where he makes some fair points (ie about how sick he's gotten about the writters slagging of the character when he was just playing the part they wrote...). And a new entry as well I see.

The Comic Relief Does Little Britain Live! DVD was going to go on my hate list -due to it just being scetches from the normal live show DVD but with ClelebritiesWOOTWOOTWOOT (often hopelessly wrong ones. Is Kate Thorton someone you asociate with Stars In Their Eyes?). But just as I was about to fly out to Ethiopia and claim back the fishing net my three quid brought the whole thing was redeemed by the real Denis Watterman singing the Minder Theme tune. Horah!

The fact that I've finnaly broken a twonk at work who doesn't realise no one likes him even though all we do is mock his mother constantly. "Hey guys, we going out tonight?" "No, we're going on your mom instead." "Oh you guys, you guys, if anyone else did that I'd get really upset. You don't even know what she looks like!" "That's because we've only seen here from behind" ect ect ect.

[And in case anyone thinks we're being cruel, he's the sort of guy who stands in the middle of the pub and shouts out "I wonder in I drink enough WKD Blue it'll turn my poo blue?" when still sober.]

Sex. And Candy. And having a job that pays more than any I've ever had before. And possibly being able to walk into a music store again.
