Unadulterated LOVE part 3: DREAMWAVE

Post by Nevermore »

Blatantly stolen from an idea Hooks started over at the Allspark a few months ago.

Last time it was Takara. This thread is about all the things you LOVE about Dreamwave. No flaming. No badmouthing. Just post everything you like about Dreamwave in here, be it Don's and/or Guido's art, the "War Within" designs or Bumper finally becoming an "official" character.

For the Dreamwave haters, there is a separate thread here, so make sure you only post the positive stuff in this one.

Next up: The G1 cartoon. ;)
Looking for a complete Energon Sky Shadow (from Superion Maximus).
Offering: Binaltech Hound, Swindle, Ravage (Corvette), Skids.
Can buy in stores: Robot Heroes Tigatron/Inferno, Ricochet/Predaking.

The fact they don't make Transformers comics anymore? :o

Ahem.

War Within and War Within: Dark Ages.

Armada and Energon.

Most of Simon Furman's writing.

Don Figueroa's art.

James Raiz's art.

Guido Guidi's art.

First five issues of Transformers/G.I.Joe.

Alex Milne's art.

That should be all, I think.
-Okay, the bomb's dropped. Life goes on. No amount of sulking or worrying changes that. We've got our own lives to live. In that regard, in five minutes time, I am using the autopilot on the Midnight Runner and taking it down the pub. If I go on my own, I go on my own.
-Well. Wait up, you horrible English git. While I'm around, you don't have to go anywhere on your own.
And, one by one, the others follow.
And, one by one, they begin to smile.

I love Dreamwave for...

...the chance for new artists like Don Figueroa, James Raiz, Guido Guidi, Alex Milne, and Joe Ng to shine.

...turning Sunstreaker from a vain, pretty bot to a being a borderline socipath badass.

...the War Within.

...and proving that Transformers comics could sell.

-A lot of the MTMTE profiles for the more obscure charecters (especially Hubcap, give that guy a mini series now! He's not obscure, but Hoist's was rather groovy as well).

-At least trying somthing different with the GI Joe crossover. It didn't work, but a valliant attempt.

- Giving us the art of Don, Guido and the always underatted James Raize.

- The whole War Within thing was a great idea, even if it did seem to have run out of steam a bit in the first few issues of AOW.

Don Figueroa and James Raiz. Amazing artwork

The coloring was done very well in WW1 and G1V2&3

The entire War Within saga.

Despite what people say about it, I liked Brad Micks G1 story. There was some clever use of charachters. There was a plotline; he was actually going somewhere with the story.

Furman made Armada worth reading.

Some of the colouring wasn't bad.

War Within Ratbat was pretty cool. In fact, the whole 'Dark Ages' series was entertaining...breaking up the factions into several small, tight-knit groups of characters was a neat idea, and it's too bad that Furman abandoned that idea in the next War Within installment.

I appreciated some of the MTMTE profiles, especially the more obscure characters. It was nice to see personalities attached to the bevy of Micromaster patrol members who never got individual tech specs, if nothing else.

Uhm...

Oh!

Oh!

Oh!

They gave us perhaps the "greatest" running joke (which will never ever ever get old) in the history of forever.

Shockwave did it.

Okay, so they didn't mean to, but I takes what I can get. As your sister said to me, et cetera.

Don Figueroa's art

James McDonough's G1 plotline, starting with War and Peace

A profiles encyclopedia that we could only have thought of in our dreams, showcasing ALL characters, even individual Micromasters

The War Within series, a kickass concept

Shockwave did it. I mean, when your favorite character is in the spotlight in almost every series, what's there not to love!

A focus away from Prime and Megs in the G1 plotline for a while and only briefly using the way, way overused Unicron for just a few panels

Jetfire vs Sunstorm, for three kickass rounds

Shockwave vs. Magnus, never done before

uhmm ..i wil feel soiled after this
but

don fgueroa's art

G1 vol 2 just because it washes the stain of vol 1 away

the war with in vol 1 2 and half of 3

armada and energon for being head and shoulders above the G1 series even if some issues were below par ( which for dreamwave meant scraping the ****ing barrel )

most of furmans writing

proof that transformers are a worthwhile license ( but not one you should build your company on)

the gijoe tf crossover with art by jae lee ( it was great until issue 6 )

guido guidi's art

the mmte series

and a brief bw comic in the summer special

and thats it

yes i feel soiled
and if you cut your self you wil think you are happy

come as you are as you were as i want you to be come doused in mud soaked in bleach come as a friend as a known enemy

Armada's Worlds Collide saga, with Megatron destroying Smokescreen in number 15,

"...so it ends. With both a whimper...and a bang! FWOOOM!"

and the decepticons defeating the autobots in the same issue.

Red Alert stopping a missile with his face (well, sort of).

And in issue 16, Bludgeon cutting Blurr's fingers.

And Megatron fighting Galvatron. For me was nice and unexpected (I mean, I saw Galvatron punching Megatron in Marvel days, but in Armada...)

And of course seeing more of Prowl acting (temporal) as Autobot leader (sorry, but it's my favourite character!), and Sideswipe and Sunstreaker acting like, well, twins?

But the better thing about Dreamwave is the drawing. In Spain, my only comics were the Marvel ones (U.S comics ), and when I first discovered Dreamwave, I was surprised and amazed by the drawings and colors. Maybe I'm easy to complain in that case, but for me was a new chance to read new stories and rediscover the Transformers.

Well, it's only my opinion! :)

And then Hasbro had them do a retcon so the charecter survied what was ment to be his final end...

Yes. But in a sort of way, I was pleased that Smokescreen survived rebuilded in Hoist, though in dreamwave there wasn't any explanation about his reencarnation or whatever, (at least since Armada MTMTE and energon, but a puny ones...).

But I think that understand you; sometimes is better to leave in peace a character death than restor him. Helps the seriousness of story, right? After all, we're watching a civil war. :)
