Help with Headmasters...

Post by Hound »

Is there a technique to tighten up the hips on a headmaster and the forehead flap thing on their backs?

Clear nail varnish?

Yeah but how do you apply it? You can't exactly disassemble the toy.

Is it a pin joint? I haven't tried this, but perhaps you could knock the pin out and apply a very thin layer of varnish on it before putting it back in? If you get it too thick to go back in you could file it down. Of course, I'm wary of pin removal myself, so I'd understand hesitation to try this option.

No there's no pin. As best I can tell there is no way to take the joint apart at all.

Are they held together with witch magic?

I've never owned a Headmaster, so I don't know what type of joint it is.

As I look at it, I think you would call the piece of metal holding the legs to the body a rivet.

It's not something you can unscrew or remove.

No offense, but wouldn't it make more sense to help if you know and have the toy rather than try to guess it out?
This is my signature. My wasted space. My little corner. You can't have it. It's mine. I can write whatever I want. And I have!

There are some standard techniques, and it's not like we don't have pics and a fairly good exposure to eighties toy stock... Powermaster Nebulans are pretty similar and weedily contructed IIRC, whereas the original Targetmaster ones are quite robust due to the single big rivet at the hips.

Asides from lightly varnishing to create friction, you can sometimes wind thin cord such as cotton or nylon thread around a joint to beef up worn material.

Thread at the hips and central knee joint?

I used to use plastic wrap on BW toy joints to tighten them up without actually altering or gluing the toy. IIRC, the flap is just a snap in, you could take a thin pair of tweezers and pop it out.
