Can Anyone Else Ever Hit .400 in Baseball?

I'm thinking no...too much relief pitching these days. Makes it tough to get a bead on a guy when you only face him once. However, if you think yes...who?

If anyone, it'll be Ichiro...either that or Bonds on account of how many times he'll walk. He's hitting around .370 right now...he gets a few more to drop in and they keep walking him, who knows...

Baseball goes in cycles...ten years ago, various hitters (John Olerud, etc.) were challenging the .400 mark while everyone was wondering whether 61 homers could ever be broken. Now, everybody's taking a crack at 70 homers, and the BA record seems farther away than ever. Perhaps 10 years from now Bonds' record will seem infallible and hitters will be assaulting Williams' record the way they did Maris'...

and by the way, R.I.P. Ted Williams. :(
