All The Rage: New TF Cartoon Rumor

Post by Transfannabeel »

I, Optimus

I had an interesting conversation this week with a buddy in the animation biz.

“Rust”: There’s gonna be a new Transformers cartoon next year.

Me: Yeah?

“Rust”: And it’s gonna suck.

Me: Really…

Anyway, he went on to describe the premise of the series, which takes place about 100 years from now. That’s not what you might think… It doesn’t advance the Transformers timeline. Instead it “re-imagines” the original Transformers crash landing “in the world of I, Robot”. So all of these sentient giant robots won’t even be unique on the planet…

What the hell is the point of that?!

Doesn't neccessarily mean it's going to suck with such a premise, but I got to wonder 'why bother'? And which 2007 toy line is supposed to tie into it? Titanium?

2100 AD? Hmm... only Titanium has models that work for that. No way would Alts even be allowed, so that's out of the question before we start... Classics? Maybe, but those vehicles are largely contemporary... 2100 AD?

Of course, we don't know what Takaromy is doing yet, so it's possible...

well it would have to be one of those, I dont think alts, I'm leaning more towards classic, the design is contemporary yes but still somewhat futuristic. thats my opinion anyway

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I would be overjoyed if we got a cartoon chronicaling the time between the end of the Great War and the beginning of Beast Wars. What happened in that period? Why the transition from Autobots/Decepticons to Maximals/Predacons? What happened to the Autobots/Decepticons? How could Transformers that were around for millions of years suddenly disappear in an approximately 300 year period?? Think of it--we'd get G1 AND Beast Wars characters in one series. Fandom would go nuts (in a good way)!

Just my 2 cents (or pence if you will). :)

Exactly. Obviously it's probably something to do with Energon, but still it'd be f'ing sweet to actually experience the change with the bots. And also HOW are the Maximals/Predacons decendents of the Autobots/Decepticons? Obviously they don't have sex...so does that mean they are the creations of the prior factions, much in the way the Combaticons were created by Starscream? WHY did the prior factions create the new factions if that is the case?

Hasbro are you listening?? This would bring about SOOO much interest in the line. You'd get Beast Wars AND G1 fans! If you leaned towards a more adult cartoon (think Beast Wars) and GOOD animation--it'd be a roaring success.

Also, I've been reading Infinite Crisis (never really been a comic reader...but kept seeing it when I'd pick up my Transformer's comics and it peaked my curiosity) and it got me thinking--would there be a way to tie in ALL Transformers continuities in a similar fashion? If all the separate lines G1/G2/BW/BM, Rid, Armada/Energon/Cybertron were all a part of a multiverse....and then...oh man....THAT might make the hell of experience everything from Rid on worth it. Hell..even Alternators/Binaltech could be explained with this method somehow.

I'm just throwing this out for discussion. :)
