Consider the source.
Either way it's a horrible choice.
As if anybody really needed a clue to who these guys are and the horror that they've brought upon us:
Michael Bay
Roland Emmerich

Yeah I saw that but I don't think that the news would be Fools worthy... Although I would be exstatic if it were.
I think that it's true because they would point out the date specifically. Usually when it's a prank, and they want it to be believable, they wouldn't mention the date. But I could be wrong... I hope I'm wrong...Now, at first, I decided to be skeptical of anything the birdie said because of the date. April 1st, I just let the phone ring most times. But this is someone I’ve known for a while, someone who most assuredly works where they say they work, someone who has been listening in on some recent meetings in which it appears Dreamworks has narrowed the list of potential directors for TRANSFORMERS down to two names

I'm not real sure what you're complaining about. Bay did both "The Rock" and "Armageddon," both films that were good. "Pearl Harbor," though I didn't see it, I was told was only bad because of acting, not directing.
As for Emmerich, ID4 and the Patriot were great action movies. Considering that Transformers is suppposed to be that, these here directors don't seem that bad.
Would I prefer Brain Singer? Of course. But you don't usually get what would be perfect.

Depends on your definition of "good". "The Rock" was a decent enough popcorn movie, but I left halfway through "Armageddon" as I just couldn't stomach that piece of crap. When I finally saw the rest of the movie, I didn't regret leaving at all.Originally posted by Grimlock2983

It wasn't just the acting, though that didn't help. The only thing that movie did correctly was it's portrayal of the Japanese. Everything else was garbage."Pearl Harbor," though I didn't see it, I was told was only bad because of acting, not directing.
Give me a break. "Independence Day" was horrid (as was his Godzilla movie). As for Emmerich, ID4 and the Patriot were great action movies. Considering that Transformers is suppposed to be that, these here directors don't seem that bad.

Yes, Transformers is going to wind up being an action movie, but that doesn't mean it has to be completely brainless.

What action movie doesn't use a lame plot device at some point? I'm not saying that just because everyone does it, that it's ok, I'm just saying that you can have a dumb plot device and still have a good movie. Even X-Men, X2, and Spider-Man all have some sort of ubelievable plot element. I mean, the directors seem to be decent enough at making good popcorn summer-action flicks, which is what TF is going to be. Were you expecting deep, philisophical discussions about life or something?
Anyway, I suppose you're right, it does depend on what you mean by "good" movies. I think when it comes to entertainment stuff in general (comics, TV, movies, etc) I'm less critical than others.

Hmmmm....ID4 did have a lot of "action" in it. I suppose if you judge an action film by the percentage of on screen action, you might slip it through as a good action film. I prefer to stick it in the cringeworthy genre, and it is definitely up there with the best of them, including any films where Will Smith plays some cool black guy with a 'tude. Maybe we will see Will Smith in the movie cast as the hero, kicking some robot "butt". Gimme a break.
If either of those guys gets their dirty little fingers on this project, it's over.

Trust me on this one...Armageddon is not good. Being "in the know" I can tell you that there is absolutely nothing about that movie even remotely accurate.Originally posted by Grimlock2983

But, since you like the movie, it means someone who's not "in the know" can like his movies. But now, with Transformers, you are someone who is "in the know" so be afraid...be very afraid.
Now, having said all that, he's not the one who wrote that piece of crap...and he's not the one writing Transformers. But being the director makes me uneasy and that he will play fast and loose with what makes Transformers, Transformers. Know what I mean?

Out of these two I would pefer Emmerich at least he knows how
to make a movie somewhat watchable (although Godzilla 2000 sucks). Watching a Micheal Bay for me movie is like asking for migrane headache. Although neither one are on my top 5 list.

The Rock is an OK film but certianly not a good movie.
Armageddon I think it was Roger Ebert said "it's a 2.5 hour
long movie trailer" and a bad one at that.
Bay couldn't keep the camera still longer than a minute and a half without jump cutting all over the place. By the end of the movie
all I was wanting to throw up from the migrane headache Bay gave me when I watched this crap.
