The Gathering "Storm" Is Embraced By Transformers Fans

Fans of IDW Publishing’s TRANSFORMERS comics ventured back to CYBERTRON in record numbers. The July release of THE TRANSFORMERS: STORMBRINGER #1 sold out in its first week of release, exceeding expectations for this new title.

Spinning out of the just-completed first TRANSFORMERS arc, the Earth-bound “Infiltration,” STORMBRINGER looks in on the TRANSFORMERS’ homeworld of CYBERTRON itself, unlocking a dark chapter in the planet’s history, one that is about to hit the Autobots and Decepticons again… full force!

STORMBRINGER is a four-part miniseries that reunites the fan-favorite TRANSFORMERS team of writer Simon Furman and artist Don Figueroa. The pair is coming off the acclaimed first BEAST WARS miniseries, “The Gathering.” Artist Figueroa is providing a wraparound cover for all four issues of STORMBRINGER, each of which makes up one quarter of a poster-sized image.

Issue 2 of STORMBRINGER will be in stores on August 9.
Deserved, IMO.

Yay!

...and I can't wait for issue 2.

I haven't been this excited about a TF comic since I was like 10.

This is great news and will further the development of Transformers at IDW.
Come on and wind me up.

I certainly hope my comic shop is mailing me that when I get my next batch of comics at the start of the month.

IDW absolutely deserved this accomplishment. Stormbringer #1 was an A+ grade IMHO. I wonder how many copies were sold to comic book stores? That'd be cool to find out. I'll say it over and over again--with the right marketing, art and story, IDW Transformers' comics could easily be a top 20 comic every month. Gotta get the word out that this comic exists to the general comic fan...and get them off of the bottom or obscure shelves.

I think I've read Stormbringer #1 at least 4 times already. Can't wait for #2--anyone know the release date yet?

August, 9. Like it says in he article.

Does anybody know how many copies actually "sold out" means?
-Okay, the bomb's dropped. Life goes on. No amount of sulking or worrying changes that. We've got our own lives to live. In that regard, in five minutes time, I am using the autopilot on the Midnight Runner and taking it down the pub. If I go on my own, I go on my own.
-Well. Wait up, you horrible English git. While I'm around, you don't have to go anywhere on your own.
And, one by one, the others follow.
And, one by one, they begin to smile.

I would assume a similar amount to that printed for Infiltration 6, perhaps slightly more if they were hoping for a new start to bring in new readers.

Nah, it'll definitely be more than Inf #6 -- new story arcs are where retailers and publishers expect sales spikes. There were also retailer incentives for S #1 that went beyond what was offered for other books, and beyond the unit orders required to get 'em.

Well, thanks for looking that obscure titbit up. The more retarded members of the board couldn't see it in the opening post, even after Ozz had reaffirmed the point...

How's he grumpy? For pointing out that you were posting information that was already in the thread twice?

That aside, when's issue 2 out? Anybody know?

According to my source- A Thai ladyboy hooker who works outside Takara headquarters- The most likely date is 21st September 2167.

You heard it here first.

Slightly more seriously, whilst the succes for Stormbringer is deserved I hope that unlike the similary strong first issue of Beast Wars there won't be a fall in quality here on in.

Nice one. You may be an idiot, but at least you don't retroactively try to wheedle out of your mistakes when they're quoted in the post below. You plum.

On-topic, when is Stormbringer #2 out?

Good for IDW, to be honest - didn't they even cut the number of alternate covers down to only a few dozen as well? Feedback seems to be good as well, so this one should outsell Infiltration issue-for-issue.

I confidently predict this'll be the new "Didn't Motormaster play a game of chicken..." for 2006.

BTW, is Stormbringer just a one off or will there be a second issue?

According to their website, there will be a Stormbringer #2. I can't seem to find any information on when it's out though - anyone know? If you find a release date, please post it in this thread!
