I just accidentally deleted the photos in my sd card.

Post by Skidmark »

I just got back from a civil war reenactment and I took really good photos and vids of the battle. As soon as I got home I inserted the card into the slot on my computer and the files came up I pressed the delete button to make room for more memory on the sd card FORGETTING to copy the content on to the computer FIRST. And now I'm going ape-sh*t. Is there a way to get these files back? I use a Nikon Coolpix 5600 with a 1 gig sd card. PLEASE HELP!

Tried that. I found out that if something's deleted from a memory stick or an sd card, it's permanently deleted from the computer.Yet i keep hearing about software that can undo permanent deletions. true or false?

Well, I don't know exactly if it applies to SD cards, but I remember seeing a documentary about memory recovery companies which said if the data's not written over they can get it back.

Also, I once saw someone fire an sd card out of a cannon then bake it in a pie and the memory recovery company still got most of the data back.

Key thing is not to write to the media you're trying to recover from.

I installed pc inspector but it's telling me a file is missing and it won't start the program.

Try one of the others (the other two are probably going to be a better bet for dealing with flash media anyway, looking at the area by file headers.)

If you happen to be doing this under Vista and have the option of a card reader and an XP installed machine, use that. Never tried any of the mentioned software under Microsoft's current (P)OS.
