Yep, Zeeks 'been licked on this one.......
Honest to God, I still can't figure out how to use the "alias" feature for type- If I uncheck it when i am placing text in an image, it looks crappy. If I check it, it looks great as I'm working on it, but then loses the clean crisp edges somewhere in the translation to either photobucket or this place. Whats up with that?
Denyer, I know you suggested a while ago that I should always start out making an image at twice the size of what it will eventually be- i.e. if I want to make a sig that will be 225x500pixels, I should start it at 450x1000, then when I am finished, shrink it to desired size, but that still doesn't seem to work.
Maybe its just the crappy psuedo photoshop software I'm using?
Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, and thefallenone, definitely go with 'Warp's sig. Waaaay better than anything I could ever come up with.

It's the JPEG compression. Makes edges blur and colour bleed, because you have solid areas of low-contrast colour next to each other.
Here, let me illustrate using a lossless image... the top half is before saving, the bottom half is after saving (even with hardly any JPEG compression applied at all):
Notice that the second piece of text has blurred every-so-slightly, but still looks roughly the same? Whereas the first piece is a total mess.
Edging provides high contrast within a small area, so it doesn't blur/bleed as much.
A little bit of sharpen tool can also sometimes help, but don't overdo. It won't work miracles on the low-contrast text used in the example, either.
