Ive got 2 issues with my comp I was wondering if anyone can help with.

For the past week AVG hasnt been updating its virus database, ive been clicking update and its gone through the motions as if it had updated, but it hasnt, and down the bottom its said there was a problem and AVG wouldnt be updated until the computer is restarted, yet restarting doesnt do anything. Now though it doesnt even do that, I click update and it just comes up with "Update was Unsuccessful"

And my other issue, still on updating, When I click start menu (with vista) and it has the "power" button, which you can click to shut down the computer when there are updates that need to be installed, well that has the updates ready icon on it, has been there for about a week, but the updates dont seem to install.
