Master question: Who are the "Unleashers" (the primitive telepathic aliens)? Judging from the previous BT story chapters, they must either be from an obscure G1 episode or some G.I. Joe/related story.

Not dead, but in emergency stasis lock, since Grimlock was the only one to 'regain consciousness' and there is a stated intent that the Dinobots will be cured and restored to full operating condition later.
Interestingly, the translation seems to imply that this Binaltech form is pretty much a temporary situation for Grimlock.

Unless the 'Unleashers' come from a Japanese episode, I don't think they come from a TV episode. The closest things I can think of would be the shadow aliens encountered by Prime and Jhiaxus and their troops in the Marvel Generation 2 comic, though those parasites affected everybody rather than just the Dinobots.

You're not referring to the Swarm?

EDIT: Spengs, if you read this: What were they Alya from "Web World" called in Japan?

Stasis lock? I thought the idea was to fit BT in the G1 universe, between season 2 and 3. Stasis locked Dinobots sounds more like a Marvel story...
Really want the original(basic) Rattrap's gun. Please PM me if you have one you might spare!

According to Doug Dlin, who translates the story for BWTF while checking back with Hirofumi Ichikawa (the writer of the story), the BT story is supposed to be a rough continuation of G1 season 2 plus some season 3 elements (EDC; Autobot City) and even including "crossover" elements (D.R. Faireborn aka Marissa's father aka Flint from G.I. joe) and even non-TF elements (Count von Rani aka Iron Klaw and General Krieger aka General Blitz).

It's not neceressarily "what happened before TF:TM".

No. I'm referring to the shadow parasites from issue #3.
I'm undoubtedly wrong about those being the Unleashers, however.

The bio card has now been translated as well.

'Lieutenant Officer'? That sounds as if it might translate better as 'Lieutenant Commander' (Grimlock's function when he was a Pretender).
(I'm not knocking the translation efforts; I think she does a good job.)

Gonna check that out tomorrow.

If you look closely, that's also the function written in roman letters on the front side of the card. :)

Which only proves that I often miss the obvious, even when it's presented right in my face. Nothing new there.

Very well. The error's been fixed.
