[CUSTOM] Movie Leader Prime is 1:27 / Motormaster custom
So, since Movie Leader Prime is 1:25/1:26...
...I'm thinking about getting a model trailer for it.
Two types come to mind:
A six car transporter that can carry Alternators and the more traditional box trailer.
Being able to haul Alternators would be the shiznit, but a massive 53 foot scaled trailer would be nice too.
I would just buy both if they weren't $50 each, so I suppose I'll need to weigh the coolness of each trailer and decide.
Thoughts? I'm leaning towards the car transport, even if it is less iconic.

I think he looks like Scorpius from Farscape. Except for the purple, obviously.
Saturday may have been a bit too hopeful: it's currently pouring rain, which means I can't go outside to use the airbrush. I need a real workshop!
I dunno... I can't get anybody to measure the silly things so I can do the math.

Finished painting and putting it back together today:
Still some touch-ups to do: need to paint the wind shield wipers and headlights, mainly. Paint chipping during transformation wasn't bad at all - much less than I expected.
Of course I had to gut all the electronics to take it apart, and I lost a spring when reassembling, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I may add some smaller details here and there, but that's basically what it's going to look like. High resolution and group pictures tomorrow!

Thats just awesome Clay..best repaint you have done thus far...well maybe a tie with your Alternator Optimus Primal..I loved that one too.
Now...if you would have used teal instead of purple and red for the windows....thus making him a Nemesis Prime/Scourge ..that would have made me fill your PM box with cash offers

I had saw this in another of your custom posts. You did a very nice job on him!
I would like to say that movie leader Prime is probably closer to 1:28 scale though. I was curious about it myself so I took these photos:
The M.A.S.K. line is [mostly] 1:24 scale (the "realistic" vehicles anyways), and of course you can see 2 of my custom Alts for the other 1:24 scale comparisons.
My thinking is this: if peeps are cool with displaying their MP-01-4/20th-DVD Prime and MP-2 with their Alts/BTs, there's no reason this guy can't be either because he and MP-1/4 and MP-2 are essentially the same size in alt mode (leader Prime is smaller in bot mode because of the MP-1/4 and MP-2's leg extensions).
Regardless, your work is really nice!

I'm gonna do math at you!
Hmm. I think there are some shenanigans going on with both of them.
The 2006 Peterbilt 379 with the extended hood (Prime's model) measures 283 inches in length, whereas the Prime toy measures 10.75 inches. 283 / 10.75 = 26.325.
However! Pictures of the real deal (2007 model, not Prime's) show an extension between the fuel tanks and the rear wheel base that the toy doesn't seem to have.
But! 283 inches divided by a scale of 24 is 11.791, so the toy would only have to be an inch longer to be a perfect 1:24 scale model of the truck w/that extra extension. Weird.
In short, you can't go by pictures. You've got to do the math. Do you know what year and model Rhino is? It'd be interesting to see if it's actually 1/24. It might be a bit bigger than that if the difference can't be accounted for by the different make.
(edit: 1/28 scale of the big truck would be 10.1 inches, and Prime's toy is bigger than that by .65 of an inch.)

*dodges the math attack*
Yeah, I most certainly don't knock mathematics That being said, one of the main artists who developed the line went on record to say that the M.A.S.K. toys were made with actual 1:24 scale model kits and then produced straight from the prototypes they made with them. I'd imagine a + or - a small incriment, but nothing so drastic that the scale would be so significantly increased or reduced. While I don't know what year/make/model the Rhino is, I do know that the model kit used for it and the other more realistic toys from that line were made from 1:24 scale kits. That's straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.
It's nice to see that you did do the math though. I'm glad to know he's closer to 1:24 scale, but I would rather had seen him actually produced to that scale. As you can imagine, I would have loved to seen movie Alts. Alas, leader Prime is as close as we'll get
