It would appear the mold IS a US exclusive non-show character.

Thanks to Fan to Fan for the news.

I read that as 'laptop' for about ten seconds... thought "crikey, Hasbro are enthusiastic about the new line if they think that'll shift many units..."

Hmm. Figure's kind of meh.

Not a bad figure. A tad misnamed though, eh? Considering it has no roof...

Just FYI: We've already seen a prototype being displayed at Toy Fair, and various store listings stated his name as "Hardtop". Ever since then, people were wondering about his Japanese counterpart. Many assumed that he might end up as a limited "USA Edition" release, which has now been confirmed.

BTW, many poeple also noted that his transformation strongly resembles that of Energon Bonecrusher & Sledge, therefore it's assumed that he might be an unused Energon combiner design after all.

The mold looks alright, but those colors are atrocious. I mean it looks like crayon box exploded on him.

I like the colors; combined with his slightly blocky appearance he looks like something from the Absurdly Colorful era of late G1.

He's the US repaint...of a Japanese mold, which they are selling in Japan, and people over here are going to shell out extra money for the Japanese version of the US version of the Japanese version? *Ass oozes out of ears*

Noooo...

He's no Japanese mold, and no repaint either. It's a Hasbro-only mainline release. Takara is not going to offer it as a Galaxy Force toy. Instead, e-Hobby is going to offer it as a so-called "USA Edition", which is basically the US toy with a sticker slapped onto the packaging.

Therefore, anyone who would actually order the Japanese version would get the US version plus sticker.
