It all makes sense. They come from her tummy, stick up for her when other grown-ups are being nasty... I can't off the top of my head think of a gender reference declaring Soundwave to be male [even if there is, who's to say male Transformers can't have babies]... and as for the voice, she's got one of those things that Cher had for "Believe".
