Possibly the cartoon's oddest moment?

Post by Cliffjumper »

Now, from some, nay, most, of the cartoone pisodes we can work out that the writers of the cartoons were on acid. Too much acid. But watching the wonderful City of Steel [hey, unlike most of the animated eps, it ain't boring], there's an especially bizarre moment. Mirage has just caught the Optigator and he just randomly deadpans - "This thing is big and heavy". And our beloved Optimus, who in an attempt to make things more like the comic is now a head, plus he's got some Jean Grey-style Teke going on there, responds witha downright bizarre answer - "I'd say a little of both".

What on Earth was that all about?

Honestly, Cliffy, I don't know.

But that episode is f'd up anyway, where else would you hear the following phrase?:

If you interfere, I'll melt Optimus Prime down for paper clips!!!

Acid? Maybe. Crack? It came out about then, so I have little doubt of that. Whatever it was they were on, they were on too much of it.

That ep was completely daffy... I mean, if it was really that easy to beat Optimus Prime, how come it took so bloomin' long...

Not at all like the comic, with believable concepts like "if you whack Megatron hard enough he'll become blindly loyal to whichever squishy he sees". THAT was quality writing Image

(PS - Redstreak, can we cut the sig back a bit please? Ta.)

"Boing! Time for bed!" said Huffer, as the lemonade-flavoured stripes expanded out to cover every available surface, cloud and dolphin.

Hmmm... I may go and watch that right now...

Crack man, only in AMERICA would a guy invent CRACK. ONLY IN AMERICA would there be a guy that COCAINE wasn't good enough for! Some guy walking down the streets of New York in 1985 going "you know that cocaine's good but I want something that makes my heart explode the moment I smoke it. I wanna take a big suck off that crack pipe and go BOOM--Now I'm HAPPY, I'm DEAD, THE ULTIMATE HIGH!-Denis Leary

Hehe sometimes I think the writers had to be on some HARD DRUGS......especially with storylines like "Madman's Paradise", Nightmare Planet, etc...

Hmm...

I came across the script for "Starscream's Brigade" recently, and I found something pretty odd.

I don't remember if this was actually used in the episode, but after Starscream's incapacitation/exile, Megatron orders Lazerbreak to take Starscream away! And in the next line, he does!

Now, I don't know about the strength potential of the tapes. I don't ever remember a time when one the Decepticons alluded at Lazerbeak's might (at least not physical).

Anyway. Strange indeed.

He does take him away, strangely enough... Grabs him by the legs if I'm not mistaken, and then drops him onto an island.....

Yeah, he throws the jet on an island.

And then in the next episode, he exiles him to space. Yup, along with a shuttle-mode goon.

Aah, good ol' Megs. Always great on strategy...
