And Takara Collection #17 is...

Post by Nevermore »

Well, according to Amazon Japan, it's Soundblaster.

Yes, it appears the 1987 remold of Soundwave will get the next reissue treatment...

And for those wondering: NO, PREDAKING IS NOT #17. He's not part of Takara's "Collection" line, just like God Ginrai wasn't.

And before I forget it: Thanks to 2005 for the original reporting. :)

No ****. But do you realize that the reissue was 1987 headmasters Soundwave, and not the original 1984 release?

There was no "Headmasters Soundwave". The Headmasters version was Soundblaster, which the initial post is referring to.

It all depends on which cassette is packaged with him. Hopefully Takara will break away from tradition and gives something other than Laserbeak. Soundwave without cassettes sucks.

Doubtful, given that the #10 reissue was a retool of Soundblaster. At a guess, the original mould simply doesn't exist any more.

Meh... Soundwave looked better in blue without the double-capactity deck, if you ask me. Not sure if I'll try to get this one or not.

Hey, at least people can finally get ahold of a Soundblaster without paying outrageously for him.

Bigbot.com's 10/13/04 entry claims it's Buzzsaw w/ Fortress Maximus sticker.

Edit ~ Never mind. They changed it.

From kae_ae at 2005:
once and for all, the reissue soundwave was not based on the original soundwave, nor soundblaster.

it was based on the running change soundwave, which improved the tape deck cover mechanism (with exposed hinges, and also allowed for later cassettes which were slightly thicker) and carried thru for soundblaster.

Say what now?

Takara's original Soundwave was packed with Rumble. The VSY (was it Y?) version came with Frenzy. Soundblaster came with Buzzsaw, as did Hasbro's Soundwave.

The Collection version was the first Soundwave to be packed with Laserbeak. So how does "something other than Laserbeak" constitute a break from tradition?

OOO maybe Soundblaster will come with Ravage. I'm pretty sure Ravage hasn't been packed together with a cassette player yet.

As for Soundblaster, he looks cool. I'd buy him. I could pose him and my Soundwave in a Wonder Twins pose. WONDER TWINS POWERS ACTIVATE!!!

He hasn't. The only one of the "classic five" not to be. :)

He probably meant the mold for Laserbeak, as Buzzsaw was just a recolored version (or Laserbeak was a recolor of Buzzsaw, whatever).

Something different from a bird would be nice, is probably what he meant.

Wait I am being sold off with a Transformer.... NO!

Sorry had to add some humor and as long as we are still getting Predaking I don't really care about a bigger Soundwave.

It's only really "bigger" in the Anna Nicole Smith sense of the word...

About 6 months ago I started a thread to discuss the likelihood of seeing Stepper, Artfire, and/or Soundblaster reissues. The majority opinion wasn't very optimistic. I can't believe we've got Stepper out, and now Soundblaster is in the works. I've said it before and I'll say it again: it's a great time to be a fan.* :smokin:

*Unless, of course, you spent thousands of dollars on buying the original releases of these figures. :p
