Sleep Help

Post by secretcode »

Well, my old friend Insomnia (plagued me since Middle School) has snuck up on me and snapped my neck and proceeded to piss all over my corpse and I've been up for a good 54 hours. Anyone have any ideas to help me sleep? No rush really. Odds are I'm not going anywhere.

Find yourself a list of something you can recite off by heart (this is important - you don't want to have to get up in the middle of the night because it's bugging you that you can't remember #29) and is just a little bit dull and repetitive - the G1 episodes by title in order, something you're interested in enough to remember, but isn't actually interesting in itself, Simply run it over in your head when in bed, and you'll bore yourself to sleep.

Heh. Sad thing is the only episdoes I can remember are the absolute shitty ones like BOTS or Carnage in C-Minor

Still no sleep, but on the bright side I did finish the first 2/3 of Invader Zim.

I’ve had problems with sleep in the past. I like to exercise before I go to sleep. Go for a walk, walk you dog.
If you don’t have a dog, steal one.

1. Lie down.
2. Rest your head on the pillow.
3. Pull the blanket over you.

Always works for me.

Oh, poor you! :(

Try the 'girly' remedy:

a) a cup of warm milk, maybe with a little cocca to make it palatable
b) a nice, warm bath with either lavender or chamomile (or both) oil
c) keep the lighting low; floating candles should not be used, but some of those artificial, colour-changing ones are fine
d) dry self in snuggly, warm towel
e) go to bed and, with a suitable classical music concert on the radio, put out the light or
e) read something untaxing in subdued lighting, but be prepared to find the media with creases and/or bent in the morning - and the light still on...

If it doesn't work, get up and consume chocolate. Alternatively, there is always lettuce, but you'd have to eat tons of the stuff to have much effect.

Then there is the 'manly' way, which involves vast quantities of alcohol.

I tried A, as I saw it on the internets. B, I do daily. C, I turned all the lights and comp off at about 2 AM to no avail, so in that case I didn't do the Second E. First D I might try and the other E, I'm considering.

Considering I'm in a dry county and I'm under 21 doesn't help much...

Well that rules out my usual solution of at least a half litre of the Supermarket I work ins cheapest vodka.

What about a joint or six Ive often found that to work quite well also.

Step 1: get a friend

Step 2: Get a baseball bat

Step 3: I think you know were this is going.:halo:

Or you could just have some fun about it and see how long you can stay awake. That will usually have an opposite effect and make me tired.

Anyhoos, hope you get some

Podcasts. Over the years, I've found that podcasts and DVD commentaries on a low volume with all lights off and just attempting to think of nothing works most of the time. Insomnia is horrible, and i've suffered from it for as long as i can remember. it's worse when you've got to work.

Listen to Garrison Keillor reciting a monolog. He has two podcasts, The News from Lake Woebegone and The writers Almanac.

Or don't listen to Garrison, Ever, if you value quality radio drama.

I realized that the solution to my sleep issues was to wear socks when I sleep...It's amazing how sleepless one can be when they have literal cold feet.
No longer looking for RID Dreadwind, but I still need Smokejumper. I'm also in need of Mammoth Nemesis Prime's tail piece, as my figure lacks it. Send me a PM.
