Teaser Movie Posters UK

Post by numbat »

Hi - dunno if anyone's mentioned it before - this is a big maze of threads!

You can pick up free small versions of the teaser poster in UK cinemas at the moment (as well as the big 'n' being up around the place).

There seem to be A3 versions that are quite commonplace, too... a guy on eBay was selling them for a couple of quid --

Abbreviated form of "tertium quid" which is Latin for "third party".

Ergo, they're being sold for a couple of third parties. Seller's a middleman...

If people want 'em that badly, I'll gladly send a few of my extras for the cost of postage only. They are FREE after all...

What is this world coming to...

I don't think the A3-sized posters are freebies to cinema-goers; they seem to have been sent to venues to stick up.

Hi,

Yup, my posters are A3 (slightly larger than my A3 sketch pad).

In my experience, A3 posters are often freebies, but usually closer to the time of release. The posters cinemas have up are the proper teaser one-sheets.

If you'd like a couple for prizes on the site or something, you'd be welcome, and I'd still have a few left over if anyone wanted to pay the postage.

A quid is an eighteenth century term for a small tin for smoking tobacco.

Also slang for a pound.

Nice to know the real story, but how did it become known as a pound, or am I being daft?

Yeah, that was a bit annoying... had to trim to get into a frame, and it didn't ship well even rolled in a box...

Ah well, it's just a minor souvenir. Although it seems odd that teasers are going out a year in advance. People are really planning this to be big, aren't they?

I'm sure some of the others here might be interested in taking you up on the kind offer. :)

Wouldn't be a problem to roll a few up and post them to people who would like 'em (provided they pay postage!).

Yeah, it is really weird to have these out so far in advance. Not too strange to have the big teasers up in the cinemas, but very odd to be giving free A3 ones away already!

Still, I really like the teaser design - unusual for blockbuster films these days. But, then, I'm no doubt biased!

And, unlike a lot of folk around here, I actually think the designs of the bots look great! But, I'm easily pleased...
