What was the first anime you ever saw?

Post by Jim »

The first title I ever saw, and knew was Anime, was Vampire Hunter D back in the early '90s. Pretty slick looking considering when it was made (1985) compared to some of these super flashy shows made currently.

It was either Akira or...um...damn it. Help me out, guys, the name escapes me...it was six parts, it was about cops, I think more specifically a chick cop. Real violent and bloody. Damn my memory(or lack thereof)!

Burn Up W was 4 parts, but featured female police. Is that the one?

I think Astroboy was my first anime series. I used to watch it when I was just a wee lad. :) Still waiting for it on DVD too :)

I remember what I now reconise as anime years ago (Some series and such).

But the first definite was Laputa:Castle in the sky on ITV in 1989 (I think itbwas called Laputa:Flying island then).

Years later Akira was the first 'manga' I saw fully.

Hmmm...

I think it was G-force, eagle readers, or whatever their japanese name was. Those hippies that turned into crimefighters.

...Did I write Eagle READERS? that's supposed to be Rider... :o

Well, if Battle of the Planets had a team of two thin guys, a girl, a fat guy and a small whining kid... that would be the one. :)

The first anime I ever saw was The Guyver back in the mid 80's. My older brother rented the videos. I was only like 6 and was watching this R-rated cartoon. It was coo!
