LITG rumor: Transformers/Terminator crossover?!?

Post by Nevermore »

CYBERTRON VS CYBERDENE

I understand there's a "Transformers/Terminator" comic book series on the way. Will it be Dynamite, will it be IDW?

Will it be as bad as "Transformers/Avengers?" No.
Looking for a complete Energon Sky Shadow (from Superion Maximus).
Offering: Binaltech Hound, Swindle, Ravage (Corvette), Skids.
Can buy in stores: Robot Heroes Tigatron/Inferno, Ricochet/Predaking.

Insert "Have you seen this truck?" joke here.

Great.

Suddenly, I am picturing all the folks who thought that the TF Movie CG designs resembled the endoskeleton-thingy designs from the Terminator medias singing, "I told you so. Told you, told you, told you so."

Actually, I think I can figure quite a few ways to make this work...

One is that Transformers arrive on earth when Skynet has already taken over, and Megatron forms an uneasy alliance with it...or something.

Yay, another ****ing useless crossover. It's not like the myriad TF universes are mined out for material, is it? Looks like I picked a ****ing excellent time to stop buying TF comics...

Skynet and the Terminators will be totally outclassed by the Transformers' super-advanced computing skills. The best that they could hope for is to become tools of the Transformers.

Oh, the crappy crossovers can go on forever.

Just remember that IDW also owns the rights to do Doctor Who comics, you know someone's feverishly working on mixing those two...

The same basic point could be made regarding GI Joe/Cobra and the Avengers... it's crossover world, a weird comics dimension where things like logic and plausibility go totally out of the window in favour of nicely posed variant covers.

I looking forward to the inevitable Transformers/Beano crossover.
Though it's bound to be a disappointment - Bumblebee will befriend/be destroyed by Dennis, and Megatron will presumably work out some way of converting parental anger or the misery of homework into energon. Prowl, despite being a police car and having an almost moral obligation to step up to the plate (given Beanotown's huge juvenille 'crime' record), will do nothing. Starscream and the seekers will feature in some sort of betrayal subplot, teaming up with Walter and the softies (Walter and Starscream might make a good 'odd couple' spinoff one-shot).
Each autobot will team up with some sort of 'appropriate' Beano character i.e. Roger the Dodger/Mirage, Les Pretend/Hound, etc.
After the inevitable scrap, Optimus 'treats everyone to a slap up feed.'

It's almost not worth reading now, actually.

But Walter and starscream have the same personality, they can't be an odd couple...

AskShockwave - perfect, just perfect.

If IDW have Doctor Who, will we see DeathsHead ever again, then? There's hope and then there's the impossible. Ah, well.

What's Death's Head got to do with Doctor Who? He was in it twice, but he's actually a totally different property... That's like assuming IDW can use Spider-Man because of Transformers...

I'm pretty certain that a lot of Terminator fans feel the same way. Have you seen how many crossovers they've made with it already? There's a frikkin' Superman vs. Terminator comic for chrissakes.

I guess, they DO both whine quite a bit, dislike being picked on/beaten up. But Starscream's more of the treacherous, friendless, ambitious, restless, opportunistic bully-type, whereas Walter is friendlier, more likely to stick by his friends (even Dennis, in some of the earlier stuff), doesn't strike fear in the hearts of his enemies, and has a very obvious desire to be in the theatre (whereas Starscream's theatrics suggest he might have a similar, albiet far more repressed ambition. His parents probobly never approved or something).

Ok, not 'odd couple' in the strictest sense, but still sufficiently different. We should still pitch it to IDW.

If Walter the Softie ever grows up, his 'softness' may cause relationship problems, if you know what I mean!

Can I get away with Beano chat on a Transformers forum?!

I just read at TFW2005, this is only a rumor and not likely to happen.

Yeah, I was sceptical about the Viz one from the getgo. Shame - it would've been great to hear Soundwave read excerpts from the Profanosaurus.

If Summer Glau's character from the Terminator TV series is in it this will be worthwhile as we can then invite her to Transformers conventions in order to have someone more atractive than Furman to look at.
