Name 2005 Transformer-line Revelaed - by Optimuzzz on Jun 7th, 2004 @ 11:47
Thanks to a Press release that Hasbro handed out yesterday, the licensed name for the transformer line of 2005 has been revealed. THe name for the successor of Energon will be Transformers: Cybertron.

TRANSFORMERS is one of Hasbro's most popular global brands in the entertainment category, as evidenced by the Cartoon Network animated program and Dreamwave comic book series, which sold more than two million copies last year. To build on this success, an array of merchandise based on the current TRANSFORMERS ENERGON theme is due out this year, including the recent release of the highly anticipated PlayStation 2 video game from Atari.
At this year's show, Hasbro will announce a new TRANSFORMERS storyline for 2005 - TRANSFORMERS CYBERTRON. Fans will be able to experience this new theme through a wide variety of entertainment, toys and licensed merchandise. This next installment in Hasbro's legendary saga is a complex story of intrigue and surprises, and will remind fans what it means to be "ROBOTS IN DISGUISE"!

Hmmm.
Dont know if I'll be bothering after energon has finished.
Think I'll just stick to the Alternators after Energon has ended.

Welcome to Final Fantasy: Transformers...

Someone needs to destroy Hasbro's "Continuity Re-set button".

To be fair, that news came from a third party source, and thus could have been considered a rumour.

Sigs are off in this forum 'cause I think it makes it easier to read, especially for people who are coming in from the main page who aren't necessarily expecting a forum.

Hasbro are just picking random existing trademarks now, aren't they?

Ah, well, not like the name 'Armada' meant much in the context of the series.

so does that mean energon will be shorter than armada toy line wise?
cause i really like energon.
and how willl hasbro remind us what is robots is disguise?

edit:rechecked the ep post(will edit again for ppl who hate scrolling down) and as i remembered, they are going show energon daily starting june 29th. another sign that the short era of energon is coming to an end.
Really want the original(basic) Rattrap's gun. Please PM me if you have one you might spare!

I'm a little worried at how fast Energon is being rushed through, to be honest.

They're pretty much treating it like Power Rangers right now: a series every year.

And Power Rangers got crap after the movie.

I doubt this will be the case here.

What next though Transformers Matrix.

I don't see anything that implies Cybertron will be a new continuity. Of course, it doesn't say it's a continuation of Energon either; it's too early to assume things.

Well that's how the Japanese handle TV shows; a new series every year. As long as Takara is in charge of cooking up new TF animation, we can assume that's the way it'll be done.
