Transformers the Movie Vs. Transformers the Movie.

Because someone was going to ask sooner or latter. Which of the two mighty Transformers films do you think kicks that little bit more arse than the other?

The new.

Good effects. Fine idea, but Tf are confusing to look at, far to many characters take up a lot of time yet have no barence on the plot e.g. the aussie hacker and any of her friends. No real emotional impact just light fun. Soundtrack isnt particulary good.

The original.

More fun, has a massive emotional impact 20 minutes in, great voice acting throught out, better dialogue form the Transformers and an awesome soundtrack

I prefer the new one.

It's a better film, in my opinion. Establishes itself on its own terms, whereas the original is more in-universe, even if it's more fun.

The GeeWun fan in me prefers the original, the film fan in me begs to differ. And as I'd rather pick a random film off my shelf than watch the original cartoon...

GoBots- Battle of the Rock Lords, hands down. What's more exciting than seeing Robots turn into rocks?!

*crickets chirp*

Anyone?

1986.

I'm still amazed by the sound and the voice FX to this day. I listen to the soundtrack whenever I'm cleaning. The keyframes in the animation are top-notch. And the dialogue/characterisation is fun.

of course, that must mean that I hate the new one.

Please tell me it's cliffy that's the other person who voted for Go-Bots...

At the moment it seems all three films are as popular as each other. Myself, whilst I think I'm about ten-12 years to old to really get the full impact (this Movie's going to be the Star Wars/Jurasic Park for all the kids of this generation) the new Movie was amazingly better than any Michael Bay directed film had any right to be. And it had Andrew in it.

That was all me... How can you not understand the awesomeness of Rock Lords?

All sarcasm aside, The Animated TF movie was the best, with the life-action being a close second.

It was me.
I'm sorry, but I have a very hard time resisting obvious gag options in polls of this variety.
I deeply regret my actions.

I prefer the 2007 movie. At least in this one, they don't kill off all my favorite characters and replace them with (IMO) lesser lights (once Prime et al are bumped off, the only parts I find interesting are the Unicron scenes). Also, I think the '07 version has a more mature theme to it, and they can really push the envelope for the sequels with the arrival of more Decepticons, Galvatron, and possibly Unicron in the third movie.

On the other hand, the new Movie will probably loose a hell of a lot on the small screen. The original on the other hand looks good either way (and how great was it to see it on a cinema screen in the Metrdome DVD trailer before the feature?)

Well, at the screening I saw it at (at a "Vue" cinema in Worcester- don't know if they're nationwide or if it's the only one...) amongst the trailers there was one for Metrodome's DVD's. It advertised the whole range but only used clips from the Movie set to Lion's theme with captions along the lines of "See the original!". Surely I'm not the only one?

Possibly a Vue thing. I've only seen it at Cineworld, where I've strangely been in the same screen all three times, thus getting the exact same set of trailers and ads preceding it...

Well there you go, you now have the incentive to go see it at a different cinema (Do Cineworld use Pearl and Dean for their adverts?)

My main arguement against the original can be used against me, so I shall keep it to myself. :D

The new one, because it doesn't hurt as much to watch it. Jazz dying was sad, but the death of Optimus is much more gut wrenching.

Do they still use the old music?

I prefer the old movie, but like Brend says, as a stand alone piece the new one wins.

Well, as the cinema's I normally frequent (Merry Hill) don't do P&D I'm not sure. But if it's "DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH" then yep.

I didn't vote cause I loved both of them the same. TF 86 was the sh... for its time, and TF 07 was great for its time. I look at them as two different movies with charracters I love.
