I've still not seen any pictures of what the "modified" Megatron will look like. I know some places decided not to carry it (but BBTS still claims to be).
Have we had any update on that?
(also, he's not as silvery looking in person as he is on the box or other pictures we've seen...that's a little disappointing)

It'll be illegal to remove it, that much is definite. I don't see all the big fuss over a small piece of orange plastic anyways, if it bothers you that much why not just buy a gun-metal coloured paint and have at it?!
As for the price, by that receipt, whoever bought it paid 15998 JPY which works out as 68.98 GBP / 135.77 USD. HobbyLinkJapan were selling him at 9800 JPY (42.25 GBP / 83.17 USD) so even with shipping to the UK it worked out at 13500 JPY (58.21 GBP / 114.57 USD).
Mental note, NEVER go into a TRU in Japan.

I'm not concerned over whether its illegal to remove it or not. Just whether I can do it without leaving some large unsightly gash on the figure.

I wouldn't rely on having an orange cap to prevent a cop from shooting someone who waves a toy gun regardless.
As said before, its not illegal to have toy guns without the cap, only to sell them. If you cross the border, just change it to robot form and if someones till gives you hassle call it a replica not a toy.
I'm still debating trying to get together the money for this one. I would prefer a non-capped and am sure I could find one. As anyone here actually had a chance to play with theirs yet?

What cop is going to think this is real? You can't even hold it properly? It's friggin huge!Originally posted by starscreamjericho
If you remove the color just don't go outside waving megs at any cops and you'll be fine.
Granted...they're probably not going to be to concerned with minor things like that if they thinkt heir lives are in danger...but then, how different is that from a tiny little orange cap on the tip?

So? Holding ANY dark-colored object that has an angle and can be held like a gun will get you shot. They're not gonna notice if it's oversized or not.
Hell, you could get shot by just holding a vacuum cleaner handle...

While I disagree with the "Toy guns are bad" mantra, your argument doesn't really wah. In dim light, at multiple meters away, it's impossible to tell if a gun-shaped object is a real gun or not.
How things look at a distance in less than ideal conditions is a huge factor... I think I've had this discussion before.
