Best horror film/series of films

Post by Mirage »

OK, peeps, I like my horror films and you should to, so, from the options available which is the best?

Please note:

I know that not everyone's favourite'll be here so it's not a best of all time, just a best of 10 cool ones I can think of

Well, my vote has to go to the only series I've seen all of - Scream.

I've seen bits here and there of the others... they made me laff. Scream does it intentionally though...

Touygh decisions there Mirage old boy, tough indeed...I would've gone with Dawn Of The Dead but Evil Dead is a cincher. Also, do you think Dawn of the Dead is more action than horror?
I've only just realised my sig's been horribly misspelled for about a year or two. Aren't you happy you read that? While you're here, erm, impeach Nixon!

Scream takes the cake on the basis of the first one alone...2 and 3 are both fairly stupid, but it strikes a chord with me that other horror films just didn't...

Halloween is the greatest Horror movie of all time. Firstly u have Jamie Lee Curtis playing the helpless babysitter. You have Dr Loomis the crazed shrink chasing after his former patient. Loomis is played by the awesome Donald Pleasence. Michael Myers IS the Boogeyman and in the original at least it was more about real terror rather than just gore

It is an action/horror yes, but it does it so well that the 2 styles fit perfectly together. I also see DotD as a comedy film,I mean c'mon, blue faced zombies and thatit in the mall when the zombie's are roamng around, oh, and the bit when they get that car and they're going around the floor, oh, and the bit with the abnormally tall headed zombie andthe rotor blades, oh and the *slap*

my favorite horror movie is a john carepenter movie called prince of darkness. it has really bad special effects, cheesy music, and a horrible performance by donald pleasance. but, it's got a great script, and some genuinely creepy moments, and one of the best endings ever

Evil Dead! The first is among the freakiest things I have ever seen. The others went for comedy, which was great, too. Ash rules!

Sheila: You found me beautiful once...
Ash: Honey, you got reeeal ugly!

That, among many things, always cracks me up.

Voted Dawn of the Dead only because Stanley Kubrik's version of The Shining wasn't an option, and since I actually own Dawn of the Dead AND since we're talking best series here, it should be noted that Dawn of the Dead is the second in George Romero's Night of the Living Dead Trilogy...Christ, I'm such a f**king nerd

Seen Scream... forgettable... seen Friday The 13th... forgettable... don't think I've seen the rest...

I'll go with the movie I saw the other night, "Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows", as it made me laugh in that "I can't believe I find this cheesy $#!t creepy" kind of way. Tied with the Sixth Sense.

[edit]: Scratch that, my memory just came back. I vote for the Sixth Sense instead, as it did genuinely creep me out, and has a cool ending.
This is my signature. My wasted space. My little corner. You can't have it. It's mine. I can write whatever I want. And I have!

the reason I put Dawn of the Dead instead of Night...., is because I thought more people would be aniliar with it.

Hmmmm..., now for my decision, I was going to go for one of the Italien made outsiders, Dr Freudstein is a great boogey man character.

Then I thought about the zombie flicks, zombie's are great in horror films - I think if the World ever had a zombie infestation, they should call me, I'd be one of the survivors.

But., no, I must go with my true favourite (oh yeah, why in heck did I forget Texas Chain Saw Massacre? and Demons?), which ultimately is the Evil Dead Series.

My vote goes to Hellraiser. :)
I'm a big fan of Clive Barker's written works and the movies are cool if you've read the original work they were derived from "The Hellbound Heart"

I also like Friday the 13th a lot too. ( anyone gonna see Jason X? I have seen it already and it's cool, though most of the cast are from Andromeda, I liked it! :D )

There are others I could say but my brain isn't working well right now, splitting time between watching RAW and here. lol
