Stupidest moment in the kids show ever!

Post by Cliffjumper »

The original cartoon was a right old load of rubbish, on this we can agree. But at which point did it get the most stupidest of all?

Wrong forum!

That's what happens when they fiddle with the order, I suppose. :(

There are so many moments there that I'd normally throw out as THE definitive one... but seeing them all together? Wow... it's hard to choose...

And yeh, I blame The Man for moving the forums across. Though I reckon I'm really going to get some fanboy explosions in the "Come and add your uninformed, sub-IRC opinions!" forum. Yeh, that's it.

Inspired by your use of mood tags whenever the idiot quotient rises.

Though I've just realised that all my links will now be sarcastic...

[EDIT] Oh... no they won't. But now I'm tempted to tweak the shades just so they might be...

A Prime Problem. There's so much wrong in that one.

Can someone explain me the Sideswipe thing? I've seen that episode once, several years ago, and don't remember it.

Right at the end when the planet's hurtling towards the sun thanks to Onslaught's backpack (...makes sense...) Sideswipe gets to the computer, taps a command in and a question along the lines of "Reverse Direction of Earth" and he pauses thinking about it, in which time a giant lick of flame washes over one side of the planet.

It just always makes me laugh, even though everyone would have been dead long before :)

I also love the bit in "REWENGAY" where the Combaticons are totally kicking the arse of the combined Ops/Megs team on Cybertron, really caning them, and someone says something like "Cover me!" and suddenly they just shoot all the Combaticons, just like that. It's even worse than that bit in "Primal Scream" where Bumblebee's gang are being slaughtered until he comes up with the brilliant strategy of beating the other side and they undo the Mayhems inside about a page...

Well, they're all "good."

But none as "good" as Optimus' mind fitting on a floppy disk.

– or –

Megatron knowing/suspecting that such was the case after the fact.

Just imagine what might have been if Apple hadn't made those price point break throughs in floppy drive manufacture.

Either that, or some of our members are a bit slow. Now, which could it be...

EDIT: Thing is that Starscream wasn't just treacherous (as if that isn't a good enough reason by itself), he was also incompetent, a bit slow and tended to lose fights to pretty much everyone... I mean, it's Starscream's fault the Autobots were even there to stop them...

I say thee nay!

From the choices given, I have to pick Megatron not killing Starscream. Eventually he got it right as Galvatron, though, so that goes to show that there are no flaws in the cartoon TF :P

Maybe the floppy was Ratchet's that he'd left lying around?

there are no flaws in the cartoon TF
that just begs to be quoted optihut :D

i'm not sure that the whole megatron / starscream thing really counts as a summum of stupidity : it's an underlying concept that sets the tone for the finer points of cringing stupidity.

i thought that "megatron's master plan" was actually quite refreshing. media manipulation and "political" plot lines were exasperatingly thin and probably quite a rebellious idea from the writers... but don't quote me on that.

but really, the bit from the series that really makes me ask myself "how the hell did i ever managed to watch this *h** ?" is the autobot snowball fight (in "fire in the sky")

P.S. i know i said to forget it, but bumblebee's finest hour (the tyre thing) was in "a plage of insecticons", not "heavy metal war"... there, now we can forget it...

edit : Rurudyne, could you expand on the ratchet thing for those of us who get error messages from allspark ?

In "Attack of the Autobots" Megatron and Starscream use an invisibility spray to sneak in and sabotage the Autobots recharger which makes them all nasty S.O.B.s.
So a)They have something so usefull lying about and dont use it til halfway through Season 2.
b)They dont use it again
c) They dont come up with a better plan if they are only going to use it once.
The show is full of masterpieces of stupidity but hey it didnt stop me loving it when i was 8 and it doesnt stop me loving it now.
