Just hired it out on DVD...whats the deal with it? It is a series or what?

It's the first anime to be designed completely by computers. Its a one shot OVA. However, there might be a full feature made in the not-so-distant future.

Ah, i thought that might be the case.

I hope they come out with something more of this storyline, it was pretty gooveh stuff! :D
