That's not the point. Sideswipe made the valid observation that the moulds have followed a couple of basic configurations. You said this was inherent from needing realism and articulation. Putting aside that it isn't, it's still pretty unavoidable that they do have roughly similar transformations. For example, if I do bother getting Meister [which I doubt I will] I'm willing to wager I could transform him without instructions, just from experience with Smokescreen.

What you would seem to be saying is that if a single design is good enough, it's acceptable to not try very hard from that point on.

For those interested:

I mailed Mazda asking whether they are planning on updating their promotional page for the RX-8 Alternator in order to reflect the name/color scheme choice. Here's the answer:

Quote:
Dear Torsten,

Thank you for contacting Mazda North American Operations. I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you.

I'd recommend contact Hasbro directly for more information regarding the RX-8 Transformer at www.hasbro.com.

Also, out Internet team does plan on updating our website. However, they are currently working on other updates.

Umm.. what is the original source again? You posted the link to that MSN Group twice. Unfortunately I'm not good at reading all the japanese they have there. Was there supposed to be another link? It's actually surprising to see it to be in white instead of the assumed red color for the longest time. It doesn't look bad at all.. and make his head stand out.. .but it still seems like its unfinished, or missing something... The white looks... well.. too plain right now... The figure does look to have the same transformation as smokescreen/silverstreak though.

I edited my original post which originally linked to a watermarked version of the pic.

What are these instructions of which you speak?

Show-off. It was actually partially because I didn't want to break the sod... and also because Ashra was going "make sure you follow the instructions", the way feeble women do. Aren't women feeble?

Uhhh.. ok.. so you are saying that the msn groups location that you got the picture from is the original source? Shouldn't there be a better source such as from Takara or Hasbro?

"Original source" i.e. "where it originally leaked".

There are so many ways to make a car transform hey!!

Just look at the Robots Bros from Rid for an example of what i mean, though i do have to agree after a while you run out of ideas...

What happened to the classic car-hood-on0chest (ala G1 sideswipe), or the car roof for chest, and bonnet for feet(ala G1 Sunstreaker)

No, Im not a G1 refugee with a net connection, just someone who thinks that hasbro could perhaps be a little more crative

Ahh.. ok.. so original source that you know of. That picture had to of come from somewhere.. and I guess I'm questioning where that picture originally came from.

Hey Sideswipe.. I hear what you are saying. You would think they might have other ideas for it, but then, what would they do? And how difficult might the transformations be? What age group would they be aiming at? Because a kid 12 and under probably won't have the patience to deal with extra transformations if it gets too difficult. Of course there is just so much you can do with a Transformer.. BTW.. don't worry bout being a G1 Refugee/Fanboy or whatever. Because in reality we are all fanboys (or girls) .. otherwise, why are we posting on here?

To be honest, I can think of two or three rough configuartions that'd fit the specs, and be no more complex than Alt Smokescreen. I'll see if I can draw rough versions [my art skills suck] and scan them in to illustrate... Though two very loose descriptions with be "Alternator Lightspeed" and "Alternator Throttlebot" arrangements. Yes, let's all mock the poseability of those etc... But I really do think either rough layout could be tweaked to give a good Alternator.

EDIT: G1 Downshift might be a better starting illustration than Lightspeed.

The 'Throttlebot' arrangement would work well if they do a smaller car.

At the moment, we're likely to see sports cars as the focus, as those are the models manufacturers want pushed. That we've already seen Hound probably indicates we're going to see more variety, but probably in a low ratio. The licensing fees for the cars dent profits.

Alternators Sideswipe & Dead End already demonstrated that the "bonnet on chest" arrangement will probably see some use. It's just a case of changing the pivot point.

Did anyone say that? No... it's merely an example of a range giving detail and poseability from three totally different transformational sequences. That much about the Car Brothers is undeniable.

New! The Meister pics are real. Now shown at at HLJ:
http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?TAK12482

The red version looks like early concept designs.

Also up at HLJ: Remolded Smokescreen as well:

I also edited the first post for those who didn't see the thread yet.

Well.. I'm still working on the true origin of the pictures... Talking to a guy from Japan that said it came from Takara's wholesale department. I'll hopefully have a link for you.

Red would make a nicer Sidewipe than Sideswipe, IMO.

I had seen a comment by someone at one time that there were supposed to be 3 versions of Meister. I don't know how much truth is held in that. Or even that there are 4 or so variations of BT-07. I did try to find out where the pictures of the white Meister came from. It sounds as if it was sent by email from Takara to wholesalers.

It seems a little outlandish that they would produce 4 variations of a figure but not make diecast figures.. Gah.. how this keeps going in a big circle..

THESE ARE NOT THE HASBRO VERSIONS.

These are the Takara versions. Wich means Takara producing multiple variants for each toy has **** to do with Hasbro not releasing diecast Alternators.

Quit whining, for ****'s sake. If you want diecast, import Binaltech.
