Never mind the fact that:

A, He hasn't been a car since his first incarnation, and B, he's all ready been a car before: http://tfu.info/1995/Decepticon/Megatron/megatron.htm

Yeah, but these are rabid fanboys we're talking about. Unless it looks and transforms exactly like it did in 1984, they're gonna be pissed.

And by new, I just meant 'Not a gun'.

...couldn't resist. After viewing the pics again, I noticed that the head does resemble Megatron's bucket helmet. Though I was hoping for Blaster or even Windcharger, I'd still get it.

I rather doubt it. I just don't see Megatron subjecting himself to the Binaltech Project when it's Starscream (ie. the 'Con who makes no secret that he wants Megs' job and is actually competent enough to succeed if given a chance) who's overseeing the Decepticon infiltration of said Project.

But Megatron never was one for thinking things through...

Masterpiece Convoy has never been declared part of the Binaltech (story)line by any official (i.e. Takara-approved) sources aside from rabid fanboys who also retool their Alternator Side Swipes by making the Viper's rear end the new chest.

However, I'm pretty sure Hasbro's stated that they consider 20th Anniversary Prime to be in the Alternators line...

And do you have to be so hostile?

He's listed under "G1" on Hasbro's website, not in the "Alternators" section.

I believe it was at one of the panel discussions at OTFCC that Hasbro designers stated they consider Masterpiece Prime a part of the Alternators line.

Yeah, that was the response at OTFCC—and there's a particular push with both Takara and Hasbro now to merge characters and lines with Robotmasters and Universe.

I have to agree. Megatron should either be a non-transforming Masterpiece-like edition (his alt-mode already exists packaged with MP Prime) or an entry in a Binaltech expansion into armor (models of military vehicles). If the latter, maybe something along the lines of the Leopold of Nazi Germany. It was basically a huge gun that ran on railroad tracks and was bigger than any tank.

A most fitting one, to those aware that it is a type of engine used in Formula 1.

The lines you just quoted were not posted by me but by Auros, just for the record...

Hasbro's website also lists all sorts of toys under G1 that actually existed before the term "G1"...

Bodycount of TFans who supposedly has a friend who's a dealer and has some insight into upcoming Hasbro releases now claims Takara will name him "Overdrive"...

uh, overdrive...right. What a strange choice... with a minor remold we could have had Windcharger....hey, maybe even Wheeljack?? He was a rally car way back when, but a sleek open hood car would still fit IMO.

Still, if the robot looks good it doesn't really matter. What I'd really like to see in the future is IronHide, Rathcet, and Hoist (A new Hound remold, or something different?).

Also Prowl and red Alert would be awesome...hope they get to do some emergency vechiles..and Inferno....Oh my.

(To make a difference maybe Prowl could be a new car instead of the Subaru, and red alert could be the remold?)

Bodycount claims Hasbro won't do "Wheeljack" because they want to reserve that name for Decepticons.
