Hopefully they will use a name like Shockwaver since they lost the license to the original moniker.

Default Alternator Shockwave finished

Alternator Shockwave Prototype has been produced.

Just like they did with Alternator Swindle, they accidentally have autobot symbols on the prototype.

It even has the lazer gun arm. Head looks just like shockwave in the close-up. Robot is mixture of purple and blue. Car is all blue.
I guess Hasbro / Takara didn't want to suggest that Shockwave was a pimp or something.

There are more pics all over the internet of this thing just google to find them.

Let's just hope they don't decide to paint him dark green and call him Mega Octane at the last minute. Similar to how they decided a mold that was obviously supposed to be Sunstreaker should be a Dead End at the last minute.

I never saw anything from Hasbro officially calling it Sunstreaker. I think it was designed that way on purpose to draw hype. That's what happened with Armada Overload as well.

Guessing it'll be Shockblast, actually...

Feckin'ell.. didn't see that one coming... looks pretty slick, too.

edit: Merged thread from Toys forum, since this is a new prototype.

Would make more sense than any other option, certainly...

Anyway, Shockers certainly makes a hell of a lot more sense than Ravage. Looks pretty sweet, too...didn't realize he would look so good in blue.

Looks sweet but to be honest, I don't know if it's my eyes or my monitor, but the car color looks more purplish than blue to me. I see the purple on his legs but I think that's just a lighter shade of purple. :\

What makes you say that? He's a very popular character (I'd say the coolest of the casettes), and it wasn't Shockwave, who made a cameo on Beast Wars . . .

I can't believe there are people on that linked board talking about how awful the BT/alt Shockwave mold is, and how it's peeing on G1 history etc. As far as I'm concerned that looks utterly amazing, and the only downside is that I now want all 3 of the meister molds/remold as well as Grimlock, and I simply can't afford them

Original plan was to get binaltech of my favourite version of the mold (i'm a sucker for die-cast I'm afraid) and then get the alternator versions for the others, which would work out much much cheaper, but if I'm wanting Binaltech versions of each of those I'm going to run out of money very quickly!

I need a better job

Damn. If they're pissed over Shockwave's new look, I wonder what their reaction was when Grimlock and Ravage came out? I wonder if they cried when they found out that Dead End's new mode couldn't turn into a leg or arm?

Just a few random thoughts.

The only one actually "peeing" over it is the same guy who insists on calling Grimlock "Camshaft", claims Dead End and Swindle don't look anythink like Sunstreaker or Trailbreaker, respectively, and is generally known to be a whiny little wuss.

EDIT:

Someone at TFans just discovered this... possible light effect button?

I don't think that's a light effect button. If I remember correctly, just about all of the TF heads are either on a revolute or a spherical (ball) joint. These conditions aren't exactly ideal to run a wire from the head to the arm (assuming this is the arm being lit up). My guess is that's one of those translucent pieces where if exposed to light, they appear to "glow." This is the same trick they used with Shockblast. If you look at the pic closely, it appears that the alleged button is the same color and consistency as his eye, so I think it's just part of this translucent plastic.

If there is a light effect button for his arm, my guess would be that the batteries and connections would be on that arm itself. Using a watch battery or two would do the trick and it's feasible since the design would be similar to Masterpiece Optimus Prime's Matrix unit.

The car needs a spoiler, and I don't like the black rims particularly.

Other than that, I think I need to change my pants now.

[G1 Shockwave cartoon voice]Fleshling or human insect or whatever you are scientifically classified as, a spoiler would be highly illogical since it would create unnecessary drag when chasing down the Autobots. In short, it would be a waste of fuel and is further proof that a spoiler is illogical. I calculate a loss of about 5.23457% fuel efficiency and that is not acceptable. As for the black rims, they were the only ones available and I will not waste fuel searching for another color since that behavior would be illogical as well.

As for your clothing change, such waste is illogical and you must be extinguished.[/voice]

Nah, it just refracts light to the eye(s)—the examples which spring to mind are the PVCs, RM Convoy and the Turbomasters, but it's been used on lots of other TFs.
