Mega Man was licensed. A non-licensed book from DW would be Necrowar or Warlands. Or Dark Minds: Bottom of the Barrelopolis or something.

Yes, the point being that it failed miserably and was a licensed book.

Ahhh... with you now

There's an interesting one, though - overall, were DW's Transformers books successful? Or not?

Success is how you measure it. I would say that yes Transformers were successful to a certain extent. If anything it proved that a market was ready and available for a product in demand. In the end though, the title eventually put the business under. And some would call this a success.

Well,in realation to their other titles, yes.
In relation to other toyline comics, yes (Only the GI:Joe revival could claim to do better really).
In relation to somthing like the Ultimates or Astonishing X-Men, probably not...

Come to think of it, two of the three companies to do a TF comic last year have now gone bust. Doesn't bode well for Devils Due becoming the permanent TF home.

I never said that every licensed book they put out did well, just that the nonlicensed books didn't.

Nor did I imply that you did. I was just covering the bases.

You could mailbomb them with cookies. They tend to fragment in the post.

I seriously doubt Transformers was the reason for the downfall of DW, it was just the only title left but what happened is they saturated with too many stories.

Wasn't TMNT also being done by DW which collapsed after so many issues, like 4.

I don't know, I would assume it was bad business practices that eventually brought DW down.

Running 4 + titles of one medium is dangerous even for Batman. And it doesn't help flooding the market with A/B covers that nobody will ever buy, and charging $20 for them at a convention.

Dreamwave failed solely because of poor business strategy and reliance solely on Transformers for survival. Not because of the Transformers themselves, per se. The writing was on the wall.

Its unfortunate because only in our dreams could we have had an entire comic book company dedicated to our favorite bots.

Finally! and i thought that i was the only one that thought 2+ covers of every issue was a bad thing, if not extremely confusing for those who are just getting back into comics

It would appear Don's exclusive deal with DD is official.

That's good news. Transformers with Don Figueroa and without Pat Lee. Indeed, good news (if DD has the property rights and what-not).
