I'd like to link to the Wal*Mart website listing the image is taken from, but unfortunately Wal*Mart appear to be currently working on their site.

Wow!

That mold is incredibly cool! Ravage looks fantastic!

(Not been a fan of the various humanoid 'Ravages' going around - especially those with animal heads... shudder...)

Beautiful car (and amazingly appropriate), and the robot kitty mode is superb!

Really looking forward to its release!

(Damn you Hasbro & Takara - too many great releases recently for my budget!)

I like.

The TFing sequence must be quite challenging to pull off well.

I may purchase one.

It would be nice to see if either the doors or part of the rear wing could be rotated round to the sides to cover that area of empty space around the mid section.

Yeah, I don't like the empty spot, either. Also wondering if they'll bother explaining two Ravages (remember, the original is inside the BW version's new body, if you adopt the BT storyline).

Who should bother to "explain" two Ravages how exactly?

Both modes are nice, the beast mode is a welcome addition although it appears to have less articulation points than the corvette.

On the one hand, that's not as stupid as the Ravage one which had the cat's head, beause at least it's not the TF equivalent of a furry. On the other hand, it's so stupid it hurts... A dilemma easily solved by liking neither, I find...

More stupid than a cassette turning into a cat or a condor?

Yeah, I don't quite see why Ravage as a car is any worse than the fairly entrenched and hallowed Ravage that turns into a cassette...

But, hey, I think he looks cool. And I'm glad for a very different Alternator!

Well, the title describes this as an alternators prototype, so I was thinking Hasbro when I said "they," but I can see how there would be confusion. If this is Ravage, then it kinda seems silly to have the same character in a toyline twice with no real explaination as to the new form. Most people adopt the BT storyline, but that doesn't really work in this case.

Yeah, yeah, Universe did that 10,000 times with Prowl, but that series was a cash grab, even if it did give us some better color schemes for certain molds.

If it's released by Takara, then it's probably going to be in the KISS line, so there's no conflict there.

Probably, but only just. I'm not a massive fan of the cassette toys either - only really like Ravage and Buzzsaw, the former for comic characterisation, the second for the best fanfic I can remember reading. Oh, and Graphy, because he's as random as ****, and he's called Graphy.

The cassettes work better, though, through being compact and cute (well, generally). Much in the way Roadhandler's not bad, and Laster is a great big brick. Also, cassette components (i.e. flat bits with stickers on) look slightly better on a robotic quasi-animal that bits of a car. And they make the Soundwave toy look less like a box on legs.

Hasbro didn't explain the first Ravage to begin with, so it's not like they're under any obligations to explain this one either.

I never said they had to. I said I wonder if they'll bother explaining it.

It's just that it's weird to make a toyline, containing a character that has two drastically different figures, and not even bother to make a backstory.

Certainly, if someone claimed to be me, but didn't look the same, I'd probably want to know what was going on, and why they don't look like me.

Well, they gave lots of explanation for the Combat Heroes during G2, didn't they? And did they bother with any explanation for the Super Car Brothers? Or the Classic Pretenders? Or myriad Spychanger redecos? Etc, etc and so on.

Hehehe, never realised Pretender Jazz can apparently drive "in excess of Mach 1". Not quite as funny as the drag coefficient of Red Alert's lights, or Krok's entire bio, but it's close...
