Am toying, as it were, with a pre-order for Screamer. At 16.99 though, I really want to see what's on offer before I pay up, even if, as I suspect, my black little heart with covet him. Ditto Megs.

I know I'm likely to be unpopular for saying this, but the robot designs are feeling rather G1-ish for me now.
They actually remind me quite a bit of Classics because they don't have an extra gimmick crammed in like the Armada/Energon/Cybertron figures.

Yeah, they've definitely got that going for them. I usually enjoy gimmicks, but not entire lines, where they have so many figures that in the end a huge chuck of the gimmicks are kind of a stretch (Hoist's powerlink point that allowed him to use his shovel, anyone? And you can only do the "minicon/cyber key reveals a hidden gun!!!11one" so many times before people start asking if you're actually trying).

I'd say that they should do lines, where the characters are just transformers, and maybe every year or so, you could introduce a sub-team that might have a gimmick, like maybe if for Cybertron, they had only given the ability to interact with planet keys to the Cybertron defense team, as a way of setting them apart from the others.

Scorponok-awesome colours, awesome sculpt, markings, nice beast mode...biggest afterthought of a robot mode in a tf line.

I'm more partial to the CG versions of the bots, personally. These mold designs are not nearly as intricate and interesting to look as I had hoped. I understand that this sort of downgrading occurs when tranfering an idea from a Movie/TV to an action figure....but, their rather bland, aren't they? Almost seems like minimal effort was put into these. What a pity.

I agree. "Transformer" is a bit of a misnomer with scorponok. But you have to admit, he's pretty cute. Just look at those big puppy-dog eyes.

Don't be fooled. The only reason why it looks up at us with those cute puppy dog eyes is because it's begging for sympathy! The poor thing got beat with the ugly stick, it just wants someone to put it out of its misery.

One awesome scorpion - primary son will demand that, even if not covered in chocolate - but one blasted bitch of a robot. I did wonder how and into what they would be able to transform the original sculpt. Sadly, now we know... Bum. :\

Bit of a letdown after Binalts, really. Scorponok in particular is generic and rather KO-ish.

Barricade reminds a bit of the 80s Real Ghostbusters figures with the pack-in transparent things...

I don't like them. As movie toys they might be good.As transformers toys probably good. But as transformers toys depicting those characters we know they have failed... It depends on how open-minded u are. As far the toys as toys now : in some their heads are just failures, f.i. Brawls face is terrible... ... Scorponok, I think, has huge arms and body compared to small legs (but thats a picture so maybe im wrong...) Bumblebee with this face is like darth vader with new yellow painting in his mask (just have a closer look...) Barricade's hands are like having a mutation... Generally though some of them probably as toys are good or even fab with as it seems cool transformation way, but I just don't like them...It's a f** movie after all anyway...

A what kind of movie? Sorry, but I can't think of too may profane three letter words begining with "f" that would suit this topic.

edit: plenty of four or more letter ones, I would imagine
