I taught my mom the first 6 verses of Surah (chapter) 55, Ar-Rahman (The Beneficent):

bismillah.hir.rahman.nir.raheem (before every Surah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Ar-Rahman
The Beneficent

al.la-mal.Quran
Hath made known the Quran

khalak-al.insaan
He hath created men,

(4)
He hath taught him utterance.

(5)
The sun and the moon are made punctual.

(6)
The stars and the trees adore.

Translation by Marmaduke Pickthall. Abdulbaset's recitation:

Pub singers. I saw a Bowie tribute act in town this week and the way he valliently carried on despite the fact all the regular drinkers were just ignoring him except for one drunk guy who was dancing like a mook was masterful. Doen't beat the time I saw one forget the words to Imagin half way through though.

Nash: You have no respect for cognitive reverie you know that.
Charles: Yes. But pizza; I have enormous respect for pizza. And of course beer.

My new job this fall where I will be teaching at a college an Intro to Computers course.

Friends, family and honestly fun places like this.

And of course Transformers.

The bunnies, they give me knowledge it is neat.

Sorry to hear that dalek. I admire John Nash, he was a more mathematical Einstein. I think it's sad that non-mathematicians don't appreciate this.

Good luck to you buddy. I'm looking forward to teach Calculus 1 myself (hopefully in 6 months).

New special edition Serenity DVD.

"Because the normal edition has sold well"

Or, in other words, "we've waited until everybody's bought the film before putting out another version."

Well done, Joss. You'll make a corporate schmuck yet.

... I'm happy. Honest. Really.

You know, I find the idea of all ten hardcore Wonder Woman comic fans being after strangely unscary.

I've pwned my Mother in this conversation earlier:

Mum: Ohhhh, I find it odd watching Batman Returns because the bloke from 28 Days Latter is in it.

Me: Still, quiet an achievement considering he'd have ben about 12 at the time.

Mum: Oh yes, I mean Batman Begins. I got confused because I talked to someone earlier about Returns, saying how awful Arnie was in it.

Me: Arnie was in Batman and Robin.

Mum: I thought that was the Val Kilmer one?

Me: That was Batman Forever.

Mum: But Robin's in the Kilmer one!

Me: Yes he is, but the film is called Batman Forever.

Mum: I can't stand the confusion in my mind!

I also owned her for thinking Rachel Wiez won the Best Actress Oscar last year (She didn't) and that Bridget Bardot was in a Bond film (she wasn't).

Forever's blatantly the best of the pre-Nolan ones, though.

I'd say Returns has more to admire in it, but it's a lot harder to like. Plus [i}Forever[/i] has Nicole Kidman at her sauciest, the scamp.
