It's worse in continental Europe, I gather.

http://www.robotkingdom.com/, althought they seem to have had a snafu. You could get BTs there for between $30 and $50 for most of them. The only problem is that, being in hong kong, the shipping is a stumbling block if you're only ordering one figure. If you're after several, it's really very economical to order stuff from them.

Can't imagine shipping something from HK to the UK would be drastically different than shipping it to the US.

Obviously, Hasbro-originated stuff costs more in the UK - that I'm not arguing. But the Japanese stuff, like the crappy little THS Convoy, shouldn't be any different since you can order it for the same price straight from Asia as some of us do here in the US.

Mmm, all I'm saying is that the typical UK shopper isn't going to feel "ripped" on a fairly uncommon import that costs 1.5 x [typical adult TF item off-the-shelf].

You didn't like THS Convoy, did you?

I thought the little THS Convoy an overly-convoluted piece of ugly-truck crap, yes... The robot is alright, but the truck and the durability suffer for no reason other than to make it more complicated than necessary. I certainly don't recommend the thing.

Overseas is the way to go in my experience, but it's worth being aware that the possible comeback is much less than working within the legal system here (eg, small claims with a claim that includes costs, distance selling regulations, etc.) It also helps if you don't care a lot about the condition of packaging, which I don't at all as long as contents are intact...

Amongst other things, you've got this as backup:

http://www.oft.gov.uk/advice_and_res...g-regulations/

The internet exemption applies to personal sales -- hence eBay requires sellers to register as either business or personal accounts. There's more info here:

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/businesscentre/explained/8.html

Plus, whilst we're used to buying internationally and trades 'n' stuff, the average punter is a bit less aware of what's out there / may have had a dud deal before / or finds it hard to get on the inside track of people picking up stuff for each other.

Well I may just have redeemed myself for my ths02/mp04 fiasco from a week or two back with this little purchase tonight.
(Tho now that ive got ths02 in I absolutely love him)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...1214&rd=1&rd=1

We never got Omega Supreme over here possibly because this guy was already out and a license/copyright scenario may have been in place but hes v.v. near complete only missing a couple of tiny pieces and the only real difference is the colour scheme-I reckon a set of reprolabels stickers should see me good to go.
The guy had him listed in totally the wrong place (ie not in the Transformers section) and I was gonna ask about him on here but thought that one of you may have polished up the sights on the old sniper rifle and outbid me.
Btw does anyone here in the UK have experience of getting Reprolabels stuff shipped over as Ill be breaking my no imports rule!
All in all I reckon 30($60) for Omega and 9 for a set of stickers is not bad considering every Omega Supreme Ive seen on ebay UK usually goes for at least(and normally way over 100)
I also love the fact that I won him by all of 67p

Not personally, but I've never seen anything said against them, and plenty of pleased customers...

Gotta agree heard nothing but good things about them and $1 to ship ANYWHERE in the world seems a good deal.
In fact it would be cheeky not to at that price!

Does anyone know the definitive answer as to why we never got an official OS release in the UK

The most exspensive Transformer I own was a recently purchased boxed G1 Sky Lynx.

May not have been really really exspensive back in the day, but it is now!

Yeah I fancy getting Sky Lynx as well but any that come up over here (and they are very few and far between) go for mad money because(I dont think) he got a release here.

I think it was partially just down to the UK being a smaller market... Fewer shops, fewer customers, , espeically for some of the bigger toys. Though it could have been because of the Grandstand thing (if not a direct copyright clash, it could simply be that maybe Omegatron didn't sell well and was warming shelves around the country ).

Nice deal, incidentally, I've seen even that version go for a fortune.
