To what?

The "hooks" on the key are broken and now the pressure pad thingy under the key is floating around. I have to keep placing it in the centre to press 'D'

You can usually get spares from the company that makes the things... that is, if you want to buy a whole new keyboard for about three times what it's worth. I'd recommend scouring the PC repair shops on the off-hand that they've got the bit you need in one of their bins. You'd probably get it free too

i see many people get a usb keyboard to use at home so they don't wear the laptop keys out. I'm considering this too, but alas have yet to actually do it.

Come on and wind me up.

I do that.

It might be more relevent if the keyboard on my SR-1K actually worked though. It wasn't fond of the yodka/orange it drank at a party once. Ironically enough it didn't seem bothered by the vodka but the orange juice joined up all the contacts on the keyboard and the screen. Now it's just a very small desktop computer.

problemis... usb doesn't work under DOS, so I'm buggered if I want to reinstall because you have to press "o" to start. And yea, a new keyboard is like 150. Actually... Jetfire, if you tell us what make your laptop is i'll ask for the bit the next time I'm hunting for a second-hand keyboard for mine.

Jetfire, can you provide pictures of the broken bits? Do you have everything that broke off?
