Agreed.

I mean, I agree it's not your strong points, and I agree, it's not my strong point either.

BBTS has posted pictures of their Orange Barrel Plug. They claim they will be gluing it in place about 1/2" into the barrel.

Haha. Glad I don't have to worry about that then. Might have to buy two for the full set of earplugs.

Wow. I'm surprised customs let that yellow earplug with tape through. I thought this was one of those things where the law would be followed to the letter but I guess not in that case.

BBTS' plug is more along the lines of what I was expecting. If they're gluing this and if I were them, I'd solvent bond the plug to the barrel to comply with the "permanently affixed" part of the law. I've used solvent bonding before and good luck getting the two components apart after that bond sets.

I hope Digital Toys will post a picture of their ' modification ' soon, but I'm afraid they will glue it like BBTS will.

Wonder how the plastic used takes to acetone.

In my experience, probably not well. I've used PVC, which is a common plastic and acetone usually deforms it slightly so that the surface looks smudged/scratched. If I had to take a guess as to which plastic they used to mold Megatron, I'd say either PVC or ABS since they're the two most common/cheapest plastics that can give a good, quality finish.

Probably the second then. There has been mention of certain Transformer toys that don't transform because they are made of PVC or that are made of PVC because they don't need to transform. At the least, they are not made of the cheapest of the plastics for most of them. Most of my Transformer toys hold up pretty damn well considering the abuse I give on my items compared to some of my other collectibles. I hear the Chinese knockoffs are made of a cheaper less durable plastic. THey may be using PVC in that case.

Has anyone tried to pull the plug from BBTS' MP-05 out?

Ripped the plug out of mine yesterday. Just grabbed it with a pair of pliers and pulled. It left a little glue in the barrel, but aside from that, there are no other signs the plug was even there.
