Civ's right. How can the Allspark be that small? On Cybertron it's the size of Washington D.C.And when Sam(Spike) holds it, it's the size of a dictionary. What the hell is up with that.

See the difference?

Once I have seen this movie, my life will be complete.

Um...no. How can you tell how big the AllSpark is in the above picture? There's nothing there to compare it too. And why "Washington DC?" You have a panel with the cube, but nothing to compare it to.

Err...wait. What I said above about the mass-shifting was meant in jest. Hence why I used a at the top of the post. I agree with Brimstone that we really don't have much of a size comparison.

How can Trilobitepictures tell it was the size of Rhode Island? It's called an educated guess.

Because on pages 4 and 5 (the black-and-white flashback pages) there are robots around it and they are tiny. Okay, "Rhode Island" is exaggerating, but it's still REALLY big (top of page 5)

It's a magical doohickie that brings things to life. What's the big deal with it changing size?

That's an image of the cube in close-up, overlaid on a space background.

It wasn't intended as a put-down. I just find the angle they've proposed taking with the Allspark in this flick a bit silly...

Yeah, I'd imagine it will be explained as something along the lines of, "Er, um, because....uh....just because", or "Umm, well, you see..Transformers are, like, an advanced aliens race, therefore no explanation is required, since it surpasses human understanding."

And I base this conclusion on absolutely nothing. Yay!

and your analysis has been proven basically in every series too. i guess it's too late to dream of them really explaining the engineering behind them *le sigh*.

Default Concerning the transformation noise...

Could it be that the classic transformation sound is not actually the sound of parts moving around? Could it be something else, like a warning sound? 'I am a Transformer. I am transforming now. You had better pay attention, or else you could be in danger.' It could be a bit like the 'vehicle reversing' beeps that we hear coming from trucks, buses and vans.

A Transformer is not very stealthy if he (or she) makes a noise during transformation. They must turn off the noise when they have to avoid detection.

No, Vector Sigma's quite reasonable... build TF body (and all the transforming mechanisms that go with it -- sure, it's silly that Megatron bothered to steal Earth cars to begin with, but they did then build the bodies) and program them.

The AS is more a "your MP3 player grows arms and legs" deal.

I think in something like molecular rearrangement or stuff like that; but anyway, Vector Sigma and protoforms make more sense.

żAre they gonna use the "appliances turn into mini-robots" in the actual movie? żOr is it only a toy subline?

They have Bumblebee communicating via songs on his radio like a Herbie the Love Bug wannabe. So don't discount the idea of one or more scene of household items running around and laughing like maniacs...

It'll be kooky!

Well, Vector Sigma is more technological where as it seems the AllSpark is more spiritual.

Technologically spiritual, I guess.

As for things changing sizes, I went home and re-read the first book, and you're right, the AllSpark is large (like the size of a large warehouse...hardly Rhode Island or Washington, DC, though). However, I disagree about the Megatron changing sizes. The page or two before he crushes Bumblebee's "windpipe" he grabs him by the chest and easily gets his hand around his chest and waist by about the same ratio as his feet go around Jazz in the trailer. So, that's still good.

The AllSpark...who knows. Maybe it transforms?

It transforms into a Bible. I think the forthcoming tv show will some how explain it.
