If my grammer and spelling etc are satisfactory (well, reading over stuff that isn't your own is usually easier to correct anyhoo), I'd be happy to do a bit of proofing, to take a bit of pressure off Clay. However, my work (you know, real life, erm...) is nuts just now, but I am trying to rectify that with my boss... So I wouldn't be able to consistently help out huge quantity-wise... just now anyway. But, if you wanted, I'd proof here and there. After WST Dinobots and LOC Movie Screamer there ain't much on the horizon I will be jumping at to review anyway.

So, if ten mins to an hour a week of proofing would help out, let me know.

(Not sure you should trust me to upload anything though - computers scare me! I work on the hills and with chainsaws. Computers are high-tech wizardry! )

the same as most people get to experience of our fair city.

What fun the riots were after we beat Leeds 3-1 this afternoon...what fun indeed.

Since my name was mentioned once in this forum (at the top, somewhere), I
was wondering is there anything I could do to speed up the amount of time
it takes to get my reviews posted. I really have been waiting long for my
review of Swindle to get posted. I am totally open to constructive criticism.
To inform you though, I still have little or no ability to spell check. Thanks

Assuming Clay's working process is anything like mine, stuff that doesn't need proofreading can be made live a lot quicker.

http://www.orangoo.com/spell/

I've just tried that on one of Dalek's comic reviews and one of yours, and it seems pretty useful. It offered better alternatives than the one at www.spellcheck.net (for instance, it gave correct alternatives for 'Ledgends' and 'skulpt'...)

Is that the most backhanded compliment for a site ever?

Matching similar sounds (dg=g, k=c, etc) is often overlooked by coders working on algorithms to check spellings, for some reason... they don't seem to realise that working with word stems isn't enough.

Hate to resurrect an old thread, but when was the last time the review archive was updated? We've got a bunch of reviews here that fans have taken the time to write, but none of them are being archived. What's going on?

Well, I think that the bulk of review proofing is done by Blackjack these days (sorry! I am trying to get back on track), and I'm pretty sure it's only Blackjack who does the updating of the actual review section of the site. And it's great that he gives the time to do it al all!

Given it's voluntary, these things always suffer when people are busy elsewhere in their lives.

I don't know the setup, but perhaps there's room for more volunteers to do updating? Many hands make for light work and all that jazz?

(Afraid I can't offer my time for that though - I struggle as it is to keep up with my voluntary commitments here and elsewhere!)

Sadly, not all people listed as moderators in this forum can actually upload reviews. It's a joint effort, even behind the lines. Some of us view and correct minor things when necessary, whilst others upload the corrected thing.

I understand your frustration, but it's for fans, by fans, a complete joint effort

Few stuff in the UK to trade/sell. Measly sales thread.

My fault, really.

What's going on? Basically, well, real life issues and a terribly tight schedule (not to mention a bloody slow internet speed) means I have very little time to read the reviews, let alone proof and upload them. Uploading is quick enough, I can upload every review in the forum within two or three hours, but the proofing and formatting and pictures take quite a bit longer. Quite a bit.

Holidays should give me some time to catch up on the backlog.

Numbat and me have been beginning to proof some of the reviews recently.
