Heh. You know, I've always loved the idea of someone, somewhere just reprinting the thing and putting it out... I mean, they'd have to sort the mess out to stop you, wouldn't they?

Excellent notion. It's not as if they can sue you for copyright infringement if they can't establish ownership.

How long until it all becomes public domain?

Dunno, for all we know Alan Class has been periodically renewing it

I am genuinely toying with buying some webspace from a give-a-toss provider and uploading the lot there, with a message saying that basically people need to read this comic, and that it's somehow impossible to get the four or five people involved into a room to just talk about this people shouldn't miss out.

Blogspot and Rapidshare would probably be just as effective.

Scanning it all, doing some kind of symbolic cover and bunging it on Lulu as a POD book would be pretty easy to do actually.

So, Planetary is finally coming to an end? How long's it been since the last issue? Cliffy? Issue #27 is due in October and it's a longer issue too. Personally, I'm more interested in when the last trade is out as that's how I've been buying them. Anyone have an idea?

Here's the solicitations:

Also, anyone know if they're gonna release a hardcover edition or even an Ultimate edition? I've got the trades but I'd stump up for a hardcover.

They'll do a hardcover given that the first three volumes also had Hardcovers. The only collection that didn't get a trade was the crossovers volume.

Probably will do a second Absolute as well down the line.

Yeah, according to Wiki release date for V4 is March next year. Sounds about right. I missed the first Absolute edition and the asking prices on Amazon are insane so I guess I'll pass on that.

As for the trades, I've actually got one of the hardcovers. The trades I have are a mismash of stuff I picked up from eBay. What I really want is an absolute edition that includes the whole run. Wonder if they'll do one of those down the line? Guess I'll have to satisfy myself with the next trade when it comes out next year.

You might get a reprint of the first absolute ahead of the second one (if they do one, which I'm pretty sure they will).

I don't think they will do one giant absolute though.

I'll get the issue and then the HC when it comes out and who knows I may even pick up the crossover trade finally.

Yeah I read the crossover trade and decided against buying it. It's ok but I didn't think it worth owning and you can have the rest of the series without that. Shame they probably won't do a giant Absolute Hardcover. That would be damn cool.

I have the original crossover editions anyway, it's why I never bothered.

The art on the Batman crossover is good, and the fact that DC tinkered with the Adam West section to remove eyes of the character always puzzled me.

I managed to get my hands on the Absolute edition a while ago. It's comic collector goodness I'm definately going to buy the 2nd one too

I just wish that the Y: The last man Hardcovers by Titan would be released quicker. I want to read more

I read the first two trades of Y the other day and thoroughly enjoyed them. Should be getting the next two soon. The only fault I could find was that it read damn fast and I can't see myself rereading it anytime soon so can't justify buying the hardcovers. Shame, though, as it's damn good.

The Batman one is the only one of the crossovers I have much time for, TBH... The Authority one lacks much new, and is a bit too much like any other comic - it just feels so forced, like someone at Wildstorm forced Ellis to do it and he was damned if making it used up any good ideas. The JLA one is just plain, ordinary shit. Bad art, bad storytelling (e.g. Jakita completely canes Diana, and is just about to kill her... and then Diana just turns up without any explanation as the winner of the fight), bad comic.

The Authority one does have one good thing in it. The fact that the two teams never actually meet as such. It's a refreshing two fingers up at the traditional superhero crossover book. The art is good from Jiminez though.

The JLA book is a bit odd, I like Jerry Ordway's art but he's not a good fit for Planetary in the slightest and the book does seem skewed towards the DC fan as opposed to the Planetary fanbase. Which if it had been a random writer I'd understand but given that Ellis wrote it I am a bit puzzled.

At his Cup of Joe panel Joe Quesada has confirmed that Marvel have bought the rights to Marvelman.

Looks like those reprints are on their way!!!

My Christ! Quesada is "does something useful" shocker! I might even forgive him for cancelling X-Man just when it was starting to get somewhere...

EDIT: It'd be hilarious if Miracleman #25 shipped before Planetary #27...

I sold some Vulcans for a truly preposterous amount, got hooked up with an MP Prime, bought the CM Baldios and now this. This is turning into an alright day!

Oh I'd end myself if MM#25 came out first!
