Reissue (oh yes!) G1 Sunstreaker - marvelous toy porn. Hands-down the sexiest vehicle mode in the line's history (Q: How do you make a Countach look better? A: Stick a big largely unecessary pair of air intakes on the back, preferably chromed), big metal feet, chrome, stickers, a name that's actually good, epic nostalgia packaging, rubsign included on separate sheet rather than needing to be picked off because rubsigns are ****ing stupid, dangerously powerful springs - yummy.

Very good moulding too - none of this warped shit Takara are selling to morons.

Who cares if he doesn't have exactly the same articulation as everything else. Don't get me wrong, I love the Univaaaarse figure, despite the generic car mode and half-arsed legs, but this awkward, barely mobile slab of diecast and actual proper plastic will always be Sunstreaker to me.

Snagged RTS Perceptor because Perceptor is just cool. And he fills out my Classics collection just a bit more. Haven't opened him yet as we're in the middle of a move but hopefully I can get to him this weekend!!!

Still hunting for Wreck-Gar, Grapple, Wheeljack and Thundercracker. Damn they stock things slow out here...

Finally got my hands on a Universe 2.0 Smokescreen!

(Thanks Paul053!)

He's really pretty neat - and a great thing particularly after a stressful high-powered business meeting yesterday afternoon/evening!

I don't know why people complain about the Hasbro paint job, compared with Henkei - I think the flat grey is a lot less in-your-face than the Henkei's bright-white, and I don't see what the big deal with the '38's is.

However, the mould certainly has its flaws - particularly the neck and feet / balance. Still, I really love the simplicity of it, compared to a lot of the other figures from the line, or current Classics-style RTS/Generations figures.

Smokescreen was my first G1 Autobot car as well, so he brings back many memories!

Yup, I am very pleased indeedy!

Got United Jazz and United Perceptor today.

United Jazz: Somehow simplified and amplified in regards to other figures. He certainly pulls the whole chest thing\door wings transformation much better than henkei Prowl and co, his legs are quite beefy and stable and he's got a cool gun. I don't really care for the whole speakers thing, like, at ALL, but he pulls it off without compromise to either mode so I'm cool with it. He is a bit tricky to get lined up back in vehicle mode, especially the two small tabs on his rooftop that need to plug somewhere in his reversed knees. He has less articulation that Prowl in both arms and legs, though. Big fan of the United scheme, Hasbro looks in comparison like a knock off.

United Perceptor: I've got a thing for hasbro figures which are predominantly red. His RTS version looks extremely cheap in vehicle mode [same thing goes for universe Ironhide] so I opted for the United version. Fantastic vehicle mode, love how EVERY.SINGLE.PART. tabs together. His transformation, while intuitive, leaves a little to be desired. His legs feel like they'll snap at some points and the stupid backpack just sits on the supposed place due to gravity and stiffness of pin-joints. Not very re-assuring. He is kind of useless without a gun and posing is somewhat limited. Hopefully I'll find a generations Blurr to lend his guns\riffle to him one day.

Both solid releases, limiting the autobot roster I want to complete to a select few

Didn't get a lot this time out, since my tax refund check is being 'reviewed' thanks to our getting a house last year, but...

Energon Snowcat
Got this one 'on card' from a local store named Leck's Anime and Toys. The figure was at a reasonable price ($25) and filled in one of the Decepticon characters not in G1 that I still wanted. The explanation for the purchase aside...

Snowcat is based on the GI Joe vehicle of the same name, and is a half-track vehicle with ski-attachments. The vehicle mode is fairly nice, if a little under-detailed for its size (though not nearly as bad as the usual Armada figure). The color scheme is fairly subdued, making the figure fit the arctic theme a bit better. Though not really spectacular, the unusual alt-mode helps this guy's novelty factor.

Transforming to robot mode is a fairly straight-forward operation, something I've been missing recently with the emphasis on tab-slot formers through the later Universe and Generations lines. Snowcat's legs and arms fold up front from the rear half of the vehicle mode, and the 'hyperpower' weapons fold up to reveal a 'snorkel-trooper' head. The look overall works, though the finished robot is slightly undetailed, again, when compared to all the figures around him on my classics shelf.

In short, definitely worth the purchase price I paid for it (particularly MOC), and is a nice novelty Decepticon. Not a must-get unless you're a UT trilogy fan, but a good figure with which to fill out the ranks.

Snagged RTS Wreck-Gar last night at Target. He's a really awesome figure! I was surprised at how simple and streamlined the transformation is considering he's a motorcycle; this would generally mean it wouldn't be very straightforward. Completely satisfied with this purchase. Plus, even though he's got an ugly color scheme (compared to other Autobots) my 10 month old daughter fancies him quite well (she doesn't get to touch him, she just smiles whenever I show him to her); maybe it's the fu-man-chu moustache he's got going on.

Finally got to mess with RTS Perceptor. He's a great figure for display but not a great play piece (as Paul053's review states). That backpack just doesn't stay put, and it would have been nice to get some sort of weapon with him outside of his shoulder 'cannon'. He's damn cool looking though, and I'll most likely just outfit him with Blurr's sniper rifle like everyone else. Oh yeah, I felt the transformation was overly convoluted when it didn't need to be. I think 6 panels of the instructions were wasted just explaining twisting and turning of arms.

I haven't tracked down RTS Wreckgar yet, but I did get a shell for G1 Chainclaw. The bear/beaver, yes. LOL. His helmet is definitely funny looking.

Generations Kup
Finally managed to find this guy at a Target while shopping for odds and ends (and completing my little girls' pony collection). I don't have a lot of time at the moment to go more in-depth about him, so I'll keep this one fairly brief.

Kup's new vehicle mode is a teal earth-style pickup. While this doesn't immediately scream 'Kup' it is pretty appropriate and believable. The truck is a no-frills deal, a simple but solid design that works well with the rest of the Classics shelf.

Transformation to robot mode is a little sniggly due to a couple of 'knee' panels and getting the wheels to fold out properly. When done you get a new take on Kup. He's definitely recognizable, and the hood-over trick does a good job of homaging the G1 look. Again, the robot mode is fairly simple and straightforward, devoid of frills, but it works here.

Kup is recommended mostly for movie and 2010 series fans, and does a good job of filling that hole in a collection. I'm a little saddened that he didn't have Recoil with him (see the Micron exclusive), and that he's a smidge lackluster, but not a bad figure if you can snag it. His rarity, sadly, is going to jack up the price well more than he's worth unless you're very lucky.

Picked up the Aerial Rivals Legends set for just over 4.00. Seems a good deal, and an opportunity to complete my Legends of Cybertron Seeker mould collection at an affordable price! (Five Legends figures for just over 4.00, yes please! I'd have paid that just for Thrust and Ramjet! Possibly each in fact... The rest are available to a good home for sale or trade though. Had them all before in other colours, and don't think I'll retain them again.)

So, I now have LOC Starscream, LOC Sunstorm, LOC Botcon Ramjet, LOC ComiCon Skywarp, Universe 2.0 Legends Thrust and Universe 2.0 Legends (erm) Ramjet.

So another set of six Seekers - only different characters. Sunstorm and two Ramjets, but no Dirge or Thundercracker.

(Or are there - have I missed any exclusives somewhere?)

The Universe Legends Ramjet and Thrust are nice alongside the others, but feel a little plainer. I think part of that is the poor paint application on the cockpits, which spills over and misses the nice geometric notches picked out in the others (although onenotch is missed on Sunstorm, both are missed on Universe Ramjet and Thrust).

Still, hats off to the designers for inventing new paint apps for the figures, rather than just reproducing one of the previous incarnations in new colours.

I'm not honestly sure which my favourite is of the six. Probably Starscream or Botcon Ramjet. Sunstorm used to be the fave, but seems quite bright now compared to the rest - although I appreciate the level of thought and detail that went in to him.

Anyhoo... I wonder where I can put these guys, given my wife is on the TF warpath again...

Over the last week I've managed to get some figures at reduced price or loose ones from Ebay. Latest purchases are RTS Grapple from TRU for 20, RTS Mindset and HFTD Oil Pan which were half price at Tesco (PCC 5 Packs at 10 anyone ???), a loose Universe Acid Storm off Ebay for 18.50 and a CHMS Sunstorm for 21 delivered from Ebay.

Have noticed that Grapples crane can actually be put out of the way by rotating it around to the rear. Need to put the shoulder covers on the outer side of the arms instead of the back though (see pics)

@numbat. I've been looking for a long time for the Legends Comicon Skywarp. Only one I'm missing although my Legends Starscream is the War For Cybertron exclusive repaint which comes with the WFC game.

Its not arrived yet. Bought it on the 31st March so should be here end of this week or next week. Have bought from the same seller before (riflescopeshop) and their delivery is usually quicker than expected.
Will certainly let you know as soon as it arrives. Cant do much else as I'm still off work with a severely hyperextended ankle. Got another 8 weeks to go before I can go back work

Hope your ankle recovers on time. I can't imagine how frustrating that must be, more than anything else. I damaged a tendon in my leg last year that put me out for 6 weeks, and that was bad enough! The worst I've had was being out of action after an op on my stomach a few years ago - that was 12 weeks. I went off my nut!

At least the TFs should keep you entertained a bit.

(And thanks - that's another LOC Seeker to find!)

Cheers Rookwise. I've got my eye on one, and am bidding... Wish me luck!

Some are charging up to 20 for them - that seems a bit pricey. I'd be happy at 6.

Any other versions of the LOC Seeker mould I'm not aware of? (I'm not normally a mental mould completist - just with this one!)

Picked up Sgt Kup (Generations) and Scourge. Both are great! Still looking for Jazz though. Anyone know if they are going to do a classics style Cliffjumper again since they put the Classics BB out?

Generations/Reveal the Shield is at the end of its run, so not this time out.

If you need a Generations Jazz, I've got a spare loose one (complete, good shape, Hasbro version) that I'll part with. PM me if you want it, and we an arrange for shipping and all that stuff.

Thanks to numbat that I got the likely-to-be-canceled-in-US RTS Windcharger. Haven't opened him yet but I'm already happy.

@Savannahtron, my local Kohl's still have many Jazz. Don't know if you have Kohl's there but maybe you can check there if you do. Like TFVanguard, I also have an spare unopened one.
