I should've bought one of those when there was 50 of them cramming the Clearance aisle at $25 a pop...

I'm glad I got the Encore version at Botcon. Same price, longer smokestacks + short missiles.

I can't be tempted to remove them from the sprue. Lowers the resale value.

So Target claims he's going to be available on November 20...
http://www.target.com/Hasbro-CHLD-Tr...formers&page=4

Let's wait and see.

(AND NO, HE IS NOT A TARGET EXCLUSIVE. And please ignore that blurb about "This item is available online, but is not available in stores." We had this with other toys before, it means nothing.)

Neat! Way too expensive though. I really want this, but $70 is a bit much...I don't even care about the comic and the Autobot symbol thingy, I just want Optimus and the DVD. I am one of the few Transformers fans who has never seen the G1 cartoon before.

Be glad of that. Watching it 20 years later I discovered it doesn't hold up well at all.

Sometimes it depends on the episode. But, I still find that TF holds up, not so much because it's a 'timeless classic', but more that cartoons on average haven't exactly improved in quality since then. Even compared to other Transformers series, the Unicron Trilogy is far inferior, and RiD slips behind it. Nevermind comparing G1 to most the schlock put out 'for kids' these days on Cartoon Network anyway.

$70? way too expensive. I got my encore for, let's see: 300 / 7 = $42.86 AUD

Actually, are the episodes on the dvd any good?

This is out in Australia, now. Expensive, Target exclusive thus far (just like Masterpeice Primes).

These guys are pretty much the only thing left on the shelves here at Target, Wal*Mart, and TRU after Xmas. Looks like most people are not willing to pay $70 for a 25 year old toy. My guess/hope is that they will end up on clearance in a month or so, I would buy one for $40...maybe.

I agree that $70 is way too expensive. I may be in the minority, but I passed on the original G1 Optimus Prime for a Powermaster Optimus Prime. The 25th Anniversary Prime has been collecting on the shelves at the Targets in my area for about a month.

As an apathy-fuelled clearout a couple of years back has left me [almost] Primeless, I'll probably pick this one up.

Well, if that's true, my Target's utter crap, and my Myer is Fantastic.

I have two G1 Primes the orginal and the Reissue toys R us exclusive, if it goes on clearance I am getting this one I have been thinking about buying it for a while. G1 Prime is one of the better g1 figures and I have found it to be an excellent display piece. Are more reissues coming out in US release for 2009. it is the 25th anniverary after all?
