Question

SPOILER! (select to read)
That half and half logo behind Drift was first used by Dreamwave wasn't it?

Hell no dude. It's got to have an additional four issues because AHM just had too much story to fit into the scheduled twelve!

Re Metroplex, surely I'm not alone in interpreting "ten double sized pages" as "we only had enough plot for half an issue, so thought we'd dress it up in flashy gimmickry"? Or am I just jaded by the whole AHM PRfest?

Eleven pages is plenty to tell a good story.

The editors do not set the path of the TF Verse. They let one of their writers lead the verse through whatever the big story arc is at the moment,
Certainly easier from an editing perspective than working to provide consistency.

Seen a bit. That's the recent mini, right? Felt rather flat compared to the original series and the 49ers stuff.

Yeah, it's still coming out. 49ers takes some topping - I'd easily rate it among Moore's finest - but Season Two manages to keep the ball rolling in a really pleasing way for me. The 'Origin camp' in the last issue was very fitting in that universe without retreading what's come before. But really, I'm just pleased to have the bad taste of Beyond The Farthest Precinct washed away.

Haven't read anything by Schmidt though. The more I think about it, the more I think that maybe that one TMUK story, 'The City That Slept' will still wind up being better than this Spotlight. Got a link to that somewhere, Denyer? I can't Google it out of the system.

Should be there, but Steve's had a site revamp since. Suggest mailing him?

Covers galore for upcoming IDW titles at comicbookresources.com. Some already seen, some new.
Check 'em out here.

did i spot a reprinting of war within at the end there? or is this something we already knew about? i must confess, i don't keep up with reprints, but a spiffy new war within trade would definately be an exception, completeness depending.

The omnibuses are due to be slightly smaller than regular trade releases IIRC -- but the page count for the price point (especially bought via somewhere like Amazon) is impressive.

If the main IDWverse gets collected like that, I'll ditch my singles.

Yeah, came up in one of the solicitation/upcoming releases threads. Pity about the 3rd volume. Though there was never any proper closure (due to DW's bankruptcy and all), it would make for some nifty supplemental/extra material. But, I suppose that is not practical.

But that's what is so odd about it. Distributers, etc, were willing to pick up a twelve issue TF mini anyway (it certainly hasn't had the printing issues that Maximum Dinobots has and most are willing to put it on shelves), so why not simply extend the numbering.

Well, that was disappointing. I was hoping for news on what's coming the second half of this year and what did we get? A mini series rounding up AHM and sounding worryingly final. Are they planning on actually doing something after July? Oh yeah. Very secret plans. Isn't this the place where secret plans get announced?
I agree that it seems sloppy that AHM needs another 4 issues just to tie up plot threads. With TWELVE issues you'd think that the story had ample room to conclude (But it's pretty clear already that there are pacing issues)

I don't get what you mean by the "Worryingly final" remark. As the Coda is meant to set the stage for future developments it sounds anything BUT final. And Furman has already said there's more material planned featuring Galvatron so it's clear that, unless IDW suffers a Dreamwave style calamity, the Transformers comics series is continuing for a while yet. (So we just have to hope that none of the writers/artists/editors have girlfriends in need of cash for their beauty pageant campaigns)

Not really. Things for the rest of the year are usually announced at SDCC in July.

Yeah, but July would be too late to announce series for the second half of the year given that they would've either started by then or be out in the solicitations. I'm just surprised that more wasn't "announced" at NY.

So, they either didn't want to pay for Eccles' likeness or they really have got the young Peter Cushing from Revenge of the Sith in the GI Joe film.

You'd think with the 'Who' license that they'd know how to draw him without makin him look like a Talosian...

I don't think four issues would be enough for Revelation Coda...

I second that, Though

Right, finally read the articles. Newsarama referring to the upcoming film as "Transformers 2: Rise of the Machines" is hylarious.

Schmidt told Transformers fans, “If you liked All Hail Megatron, you will like what’s coming up. If you didn’t like AHM, you will like what’s coming up.”
Bold claim innit? And one that almost makes me predisposed to hate whatever it is on principle...

Didn't someone say almost exactly the same thing about AHM once upon a time?
