Perhaps he's been working out between films? To be fair though it's always tough on the artist when they don't have the rights to use actor likenesses.

Sam mentions "Sentinel Prime": I wonder if this could be a nod to the next movie, or is something that Furman threw in. I already noticed a couple of dialogues that could be his handiwork... and a certain finesse in the overall handling of the story that in TFTM07 was totally missing.
