Default Will you buy this car if you are at that age?

I think this is a news so put it in here. I have nothing to say but WOW!

I wouldn't take that car for free at any age... Much as I love the live-action stuff, there are precisely two nice cars in the whole thing - pre-upgrade Bumblebee, and maybe Sideways. The updated Camaro looks like every other mid-life crisis toothpaste squirt piece of crap out there. Give me something with straight edges, style and soul any day.

I always forget Bill Holden was in Bridge on the River Kwai. I get it into my head that he just turned up in the late 1960s/early 1970s as this grizzled old guy.

If I had the money I'd buy it now, doubt I'll see 101. Would also be quite happy with Sideways or Sideswipe

The old Chevy Camaro Bumblebee for me, or else his original beetle form. Or maybe a robot that transforms into 2CV with open top canvas hood. Would probably an temperamental Autobot called Pierre who'd get crushed in a strong wind but...

Or maybe that big luxurious french car that Albert Camus died in.

I'd take a Datsun exactly like Smokescreen. Great car - good-looking without being outright pretty, bit of muscle, killer scheme. You can imagine Steve McQueen driving Smokescreen if he'd ever made a stock racing film.

Cool

Phwoar yeah, and possibly Red Alert for the most outrageous idea of a Lambourghini Fire Department vehicle. I'd turn up in him, wind down the window and toss a Martini at the fire.

Maybe Windcharger's Pontiac for some Smokey & the Bandit style action too. And Hound for the Mork & Mindy intro sequence.

Trailbreaker for the friday Sainsbury's shopping. Yeah, I know how to live.

Meh, I'd buy a BB Camaro but to live to 101? Alcohol stops me there.

I would like a Lamborghini, or a Jaguar transforming into, well yeah Ravage, but then made tame... A yellow vaque sportscar wth JaAm on it's license plate would be killer... hmm, maybe that Camaro thing and the licence plate...(begins plotting...)

Red face

If I've learnt to drive by that point I'm not going to want a 73 year old car.

In the cars from many years up ahead, I think they do the same as in a certain country: Car drives YOU! If you want to drive yourself, you probablty have to stick with oldtimers.

That's almost as stupid as giving that car to a 16 year old.

If he drives it much, he's going to kill himself, or someone else.

I'd take an old Datsun 280ZX, over any Camero, any day.

I almost had one last year for $500. It was Metallic Blue with silver trim. So pretty even in it's mis-treated state. It belonged to an old racer whom replaced the fuel injectors with a 4-barrel carb and a blast pack. But unfortunantly it's paint was peeling, the seals were non existant and the cover to the carb was missing along with the Datsun emblem... all in all it needed about $200 worth of work done to get it running.

Then about two days before I was going to go get it I lose my job. And a fixer upper just wasn't a good Idea anymore. (sigh)

So now here I am a year later, still no job(other than a temp), no car, and not another 280ZX within 200 miles worth a damn...

I'd be pretty chuffed with new Bumblebee, actually. Admittedly the 70s chevy was cooler, but its still a nice set of wheels

Always freaks me out when I see clips of Miami Vice. Edward James Olmos was forged of steel and fury precisely nine years ago. In my mind.

The car? No. Definitely not. Ever. No car should be yellow, and anybody caught driving or owning a yellow car should be shot on sight.

FACT.

That's nothing. I started lending this guy at work BSG as Bladerunner was his favourite movie, but despite now being three seasons in he didn't realise Adama and Gaff were the same person until I pointed it out the other day. It was a complete mind **** for him.
