Default ['New RPG'] The Two Solitudes: Kaon (Decepticon)

Cybertron was a glorious jewel, once. It was the hub of an entire solar system, birthplace of a culture that has expanded from star to star. It was a beacon of order and civilization...but it has fallen. Its' oppressive government holds the world in an iron fist, stifling the free flow of trade, the free movement of people and even the free exchange of information and ideas.

The heart of the regime is the massive city-state called Iacon. A city that wallows in its' ill-gotten wealth and prosperity, Iacon is the capital of Cybertron and the home of the uncaring tyrant Zeta Prime. His minions, the Autobots, crack down on dissent while his priests peddle ancient myths as truth and a veritable army of technocrats use the machinery of government to enforce the status quo.

But there is hope.

In the hard-working, long-marginalized city-state of Kaon, a visionary leader called Megatron has been handed the mantle of leadership. He and his Decepticon followers have liberated Kaon, tossing Zeta Prime's corrupt minions out of power even as they welcome free-thinkers, revolutionaries and non-conformists into their midst.

No one in Kaon wants to see a war, but as the reprisals of Zeta Prime and his followers grow larger and larger, can it possibly be avoided?

Main Spaceport, Kaon

Lugnut flexed his fingers and balled his hands into fists, instinctively working his joints to keep his energon circulating. He recognized the habit for what it was: a relic of the years he'd spent in an Altihex prison, almost always in chains because he was too violent for the guards to deal with otherwise. It had never been them that he was mad at, of course. They'd just been cogs in the machine, but the machine had sentenced him to be transported in stasis to an unsettled pebble of rock fifty light-years away from Cybertron and he'd been understandably angry. Unlike many of his fellow inmates, Lugnut had never let himself become resigned to his fate and he'd never bowed to the pressure to cooperate with the guards to make things a bit easier on himself. He'd always held out hope that he'd be able to escape his fate, but that hope had become fainter and fainter as time went on.

Then Megatron came.

When the Decepticon leader freed Lugnut and his comrades, he'd treated them like people. Like equals. The Autobots had never done that. And he'd forgiven their past sins, offered them sanctuary in Kaon and a chance to rebuild their lives. Like most of the prisoners, Lugnut had jumped at the chance.

But while most of the prisoners had only had their own best interests at heart and had quickly found whatever niche could enrich them most quickly, Lugnut found himself a changed mech. No one had ever given him a chance before, not the way Megatron had. It was...inspirational, so much so that Lugnut had sworn himself into his saviour's service right then and there.

Which was what had led him here: standing in Kaon's main spaceport, proudly wearing his brand-new Decepticon badge as he waited for a pair of random scientists that he was supposed to escort to his master. It wasn't exactly what he'd had in mind when he'd taken his vow.

Lugnut chuckled and looked down at his comrades. "Well, at least it beats jail..."

Orbital Space

As usual, Jetfire was a bit disoriented as he fell out of the experimental space bridge. Side-effects were only to be expected, though. The technology fundamentally wasn't meant for what they were using it for. Short-range hops on Cybertron's surface, sure. Even jaunts from planet to planet. But interstellar travel? Even though he'd made the trip several times now, the idea still seemed flatly ridiculous to him.

As his sensors realigned, he realized that the nearest relay satellite was beaming a comm signal to him.

"That's strange, Starscream," he transmitted to his friend and senior research partner. "I'm getting a signal from the planetary comm-net. Apparently our landing has been redirected to Kaon."

Advanced Research Labs, Kaon Polytechnic Institute

Predacon looked down on his creation with pride, arrogance and just a tiny bit of spite. In the year since he'd come to Kaon, he'd made more progress in the field of technogenetics than he'd ever dreamed of in his entire career. But unlike the stifling, dogmatic academia that dominated Iacon and the other Church-run city-states, the environment of Kaon was one that actually encouraged innovation rather than stamping down on it because it was forbidden in a ridiculously old work of fiction that some poor fools took to be the word of their imaginary god.

But now, unshackled by the establishment's ridiculous ethics, Predacon was finally free. Free to learn all he wanted to learn. Free to research what he wanted to research.

Free to create what he wanted to create.

That was the part that really scared the tired old monks that vainly tried to control the world, he knew. They knew that Predacon and his ilk were close to a score of different breakthroughs, breakthroughs that could fundamentally improve the Cybertronian form of life. And the thought that mere mortals could create something greater than their fictional divinity...that was something they just couldn't tolerate.

But it was done. The physical changes were the easy part. There had been experiments for ages, delving into how to give Transformers more than one alternate mode. His predecessors had even created a few successful test subjects, among the hundreds and hundreds of poor saps that they'd rendered catatonic or schizophrenic along the way. But they'd always come at it from the wrong direction. They'd always tried to give new alt-modes to someone that was always alive.

In retrospect, it was all so obvious. The problem wasn't one of hardware. It was one of software. And the easiest way to fix the problem was before it became a problem, by changing the very building blocks of Transformer life.

The thought was so deliciously heretical that Predacon liked to think that somewhere, a Keeper was bursting into flames at the mere thought of it.

But it was done, and the time had come to bring his creation to life. All he needed now were the troops that Megatron had promised...

(OOC:Anyone interested in joining him, feel free. )

Finback manipulated the controls of his hover chair tiredly.

This was his last hope the rust was spreading and the medics did not give him long. He'd been drawn to Kaon due to it's reputation of it's scientists. Scientists whose minds were untrammeled by the dogma of the church.

Slowly he traversed the corridor scanning the doors for the name of the scientist that was pioneering the work that might save his life.

Venom finished editing the document before him and steepled his fingers together.

He opened a com link

"Megatron I have just completed the text for your latest broadcast. I am sending it across for your approval now Sir."

Nondescript Construction Site, Kaon

Being a mechanically-based species, Cybertronians generally undertook construction into their own hands instead of relying on other machines. It was grueling work, however, which was why only the lower castes are usually conscripted into manual labour.

One particular construction vehicle rumbling across the site, however, was decidedly not of the lower caste.

Scorponok was a large being, easily twice the size of the average Cybertronian. While most other construction vehicles are blocky affairs with compact construction peripherals attached to them, Scorponok was more than just another articulated brick.

Sprouting from the front of his rather bulky main torso were two gigantic shovels, in stark contrast to the single shovels everyone else had. He rolled forwards on the treads that sprouted from the side of his body. Curling up from the back was something that resembled a tail, a probe of some sort, a sharp stinger-like cannon on the tip of the tail, pointing forwards.

Deftly manipulating his shovels as if they were arms, Scorponok lifted a girder thrice his length without much effort and began the monotonous task of rolling towards another part of the site, to attach the girder where it was supposed to be. A part of the supporting exostructure of the warehouse.

The warehouse was so plain and boxy and disgustingly ugly.

Scorponok was tempted to open fire with the electric cannon disguised as a welding torch on the tip of his tail.

He hated this. Mere weeks ago, he had been lounging in the best entertainment areas of Cybertron, drinking high-grade, refined Energon with the likes of Decimus and Avalon. Being the owner of one of the greatest construction firms on Cybertron, as well as a xenobiology research lab, along with other types of firms, had been very profitable for Scorponok. He even had time to dabble in politics.

How did it go wrong?

Ah, yes. There was a bunch of political enemies. It was complicated, but the bottom line is that one by one his assets were shut down. Scorponok grew more and more desperate.

At one point he had told one of his construction workers — what was that midget's name? Brawn? — to screw regulations and use some inferior materials. He had the gall to complain! And to the authorities, at that. Investigations were made, inquiries were done. Bottom line, Scorponok had fallen from grace.

He had the sense to hide some resources in other accounts, of course. A lot of them. Stocks, hidden caches, accounts under false names and everything. And a quick alternate-mode change from a bulky jet form that he hardly ever used wasn't even much of a problem. He had not entered the political scene blindly. But the fact is that a majority of his assets are now annexed by the government.

Scorponok clenched his shovels at this rage, causing two large dents on the girder he was carrying. Now he was forced to go into hiding (in one of his own construction sites. Hiding in the most obvious places) while his lawyers sort matters out with the authorities. By the time those bloodsuckers are done, though, Scorponok would've been better off just paying whatever the authorities want him to pay. But then he would have to contend with his political enemies. And investigators. Better to just disappear for a couple of months.

In retrospect, picking a cover in Kaon had been good. Kaon was the most downtrodden town in Cybertron. A sprawling nest of industrial failures that still tries to stand up on crippled legs. Filled to the brim with the dredges of society. No one would look for a wealthy politician like Scorponok there. But he had to work, else he would arouse suspicion. While he was no stranger to physical work, and his immense strength meaning that it wasn't much effort, it irritated Scorponok.

"Shouldn't have bothered with this."

Scorponok transformed, rising into his full height and dropping the girder to the ground with a heavy clang. Plates shifted and joints rotated as he assumed his towering robot form. The shovels ended up as his hands, massive claws that clenched open and close regularly almost like breathing. Complaints and angry retorts rose around him (the workers, stupid as they are, had not recognized Scorponok with the little physical changes) but Scorponok ignored them as he stalked away from the construction site, a scowl etched onto his face.

He almost always stalked. Large, pillar-like feet moving with a grace and confidence and an unnatural quietness that had been perfected over years of living in the high end. There was a slight hunch, in part instinctive due to Scorponok's immense height forcing him to hunch otherwise he would knock his head on the ceiling every time he navigated in a building, and in part to allow his tail weapon to be able to aim forwards easily if needed to. The scowl, meanwhile, had been Scorponok's standard expression. A slight, displeased scowl as if everyone in the world had disappointed him in some manner.

Which, when he thought about it, was the case.

He supposed that he could have been a better being if he so chooses. He could've been one of the Autobot Elite Guard. Or maybe a philanthropist. Or maybe pursue his scientific passion in xenobiology and microtechnology. He always liked to experiment with technology, seeing what could be done. But-

"Hey, you big lug nut! Where th' fraggin' Pit d'you think yer goin'?"

Scorponok glared to his right, his orange optic band narrowing over the ridge of his nose. The speaker was a short mech, barely reaching over Scorponok's knee. Scorponok did not deign to answer this little fool who had addressed him — ignorance is hardly a crime. And at least he was earning his paycheck properly.

"I'm talkin' to you, ya big ugly piece of tin! Wha' d'you think yer doin' with those girders?"

"I am just taking a walk." Scorponok growled, his deep, baritone voice cold and dangerous.

"Yeh? Then walk right back t' work, porthole, 'cause we ain't earnin' no energon walkin' around! Bad enough tha' we have to smuggle materials to th' Tarnian senators, but-"

Scorponok's optic band narrowed even further and his scowl was replaced with an angry grimace. The expression looked so simply furious that the fool who just unwittingly revealed his little betrayal immediately shut up and reeled backwards in fear.

Rage took over then. Scorponok swiped forwards with one massive claw, catching the poor, screaming mech on one feet, a loud clang that reverberated across the site. As the swing reached its apex, Scorponok let go and tossed the traitor onto a stack of girders. The impact was a satisfying crash that should've broken something, but the pile of girders collapsed on the poor fool.

Other workers watched as the dust settled, too confused to realize what had happened, and Scorponok chose that moment to stalk away. Stupid, losing his temper like that. While the little traitor deserved to die, it did raise a worrying point. No one could survive making a clean living like this while the people above wallow in grandeur.

Something needs to be done. But what could he, a fallen politician, possibly do?

Trying to drown the bad taste that the murder had imparted, Scorponok walked towards Kaon's Polytechnic Institute. His good... acquaintance Predacon worked there. Perhaps some experimenting might keep his head off things...

Default Kaon Office

Clench paced around, nervous about what his next step should be. His future had been planned out. He had worked his way up through the Kaon political structure, step by step, learning who could be bought, who to befriend, etc.

He stopped and looked out his office window. He could see it in his mind, so close, but futile now. He had sunk a large portion of his wealth into a campaign to become govenor of Kaon. He wasn't a favorite, at that point, but he had a lot of momentum. It had been possible.

And then he came along... Megatron. The guy attracted followers easily, something Clench was not near as good at doing. He rose to power so quickly, Clench's dream of becoming govenor was shattered, and so many credits wasted. It left a bitter taste in his mouth.

Clench resumed his pacing, trying to determine his next move.

The Gauntlet, Kaon

"Grim-lock! Grim-lock! Grim-lock!"

The crowd chanted his name. Grimlock charged forwards, thick, powerful arms lashing out at his first opponent. The sheer force of the impact caved the chestplate in, and the mech made a sick gurgling noise as he stumbled backwards. Grimlock followed it with a swift jab to the head, completely caving in the face, shearing off the smooth exoskeleton and exposing the circuity beneath.

The mech screamed, the crowd cheered.

Grimlock plowed on, landing an uppercut onto the next opponent, listening to a satisfying crack and snap as several polymers and cables that secured the neck to the chassis were overextended. In a swift move, Grimlock laid onto the third opponent with a savage hammerblow, knocking him to the ground. He kicked him, just to make sure he stays down.

Grimlock turned around from the three opponents to see a fresh wave of challengers come in. He shook his head. Grimlock pounded his fists together and let out a deep, animalistic roar. He charged forwards, with surprising control over his massive, bulky form. While he would never be able to do complex maneuvers, Grimlock had enough sense of balance to be able to use his mass effectively instead of simply lumbering and barreling through enemies.

In addition to his already considerable strength, he also had battle instincts, honed from years of fighting. When he got close enough he lashed out, thick fingers finding purchase on a gladiator, and with ease tossed him as a makeshift missile at the head of an opponent that towered over even Grimlock. While some transformers have their own wacky styles of fighting, Grimlock has something much more simpler and effective.

Always go for the head.

Some people do funky things like disabling motor sensors or crippling the enemy or whatnot, but Grimlock's style, if it could be called that, involved slamming things (preferably his fist) at people's heads or failing that, slamming people's heads at things.

Which was what he did then, picking his last opponent by his foot and swinging him like a club, slamming his head onto the edge of the battlefield. It was crushed, the skull caving in and black energon spluttering out.

The crowd cheered.

Grimlock roared again, shaking his fists into the air. Inwardly he hated having to fight others for entertainment. But the pay was good, and it was a nice exhaust for his violence and bloodlust. Where else can an engine of destruction like Grimlock find a niche in the ordered society of the Golden Age?

It wasn't always like this. Grimlock used to be a field commander, a soldier. He didn't have vivid memories of his life prior to that- he always remembered fighting, moving from one battle to the next. He served under Kup, under Obsidian, under Strika, during the old wars. He still remembered the battles, the explosions, the fervor that always overtook him everytime he was deployed into the field.

"Me Grimlock KING!" He roared, the catchphrase the crowd was waiting for. The crowd roared even louder.

Grimlock still remembered the bullet that slammed home onto the base of his forehead, little above his optic band. It was during one of the skirmishes with a group of rabid techno-organics that still populate Cybertron's lower levels. When he woke up, the medic told him that the quasi-biological attack had corrupted the part of his brain that controlled speech, and fixing it would prove too expensive and at the same time dangerous.

Grimlock would have refused the operation anyway even if he had the money. Speaking like a caveman had always led enemies to underestimate him, grouping him with your average thug that were dumber than rocks. Grimlock was far from stupid. While no rocket scientist, Grimlock was very intelligent, and more than capable to utilize his faulty speech to lead others to underestimate his cunning.

Still, battles had grown stale lately. Grimlock had only not won once — against the undefeatable champion, the one they call Megatron. But other than that there have been little that had even began to threaten Grimlock..

-And they say these gladiatorial fights are dangerous. Fah! There's no one here that can challenge me.-

Grimlock wanted to say that last sentence, but what came out was, "No one can beat me Grimlock!"

The announcer seized this moment to rile the crowd. "Did you hear that, folks? Your favourite King Grimlock demands a challenge! Now we shall see how he stands against our newest challenges. Place your bets, gentlemen, we have.... the Deathbringers of Urayaaaaa!"

Grimlock turned around, optics narrowing, as drones pulled the fallen bodies aside. Doors opened, and a new set of enemies charged out. Grimlock charged at them, roaring, bloodlust taking over.

Main Spaceport, Kaon

Skywarp teleported as often as he could. Despite his internal teleporter taking quite an amount of energy every time it was utilized, Skywarp didn't much care. He valued his freedom too much after confinement.

Plus, suddenly popping out, crouching, in a swirl of black and purple and the odd crackle of electricity always freaked people out.

When Skywarp was moving at a fast speed, like in his alternate mode, his teleportation manifested in tiny portals that ripped apart space. But when he was stationary or close to it, the portal manifested within him instead.

The physics involved was too complex for Skywarp to comprehend, nor does he want to.

He can teleport. It was second nature.

Which was what he did. Walking out of the Gauntlet after seeing King Grimlock clobber a bunch of losers — Grimlock was a good fighter, but nothing compared to his leader Megatron — he vanished in a swirl of blacks and purples.

He reappeared, crouching, next to Lugnut in time to catch the larger mech's words. "True. This beats jail a thousandfold." Skywarp jerked a thumb at the newly painted Decepticon insignias, emblazoned boldly upon the wings that sprouted over his shoulders.

Skywarp found he liked Lugnut. Along with his fellow Seeker-model Thrust, Lugnut had been among the group of criminals slated for off-world exile. All for a bunch of relatively harmless pranks. Sure, he caused a lot of collateral damage, but no one got killed until the police intervened.

That wasn't really excuse to send him to rust in some barren rock.

He remembered the feeling of hopelessness, of the energon manacles that clamped his hands together, the inhibitor claw on his back preventing him from transforming or teleporting, the metallic gag placed over his mouth because he won't shut up, the roughness of the guards as they shoved him against Lugnut...

Megatron as he freed them...

Like Lugnut, Skywarp had also immediately pledged allegiance to Megatron. Megatron was smart, Megatron was powerful, he's make of leader stuff. A worthy one for Skywarp to follow. Better to have direction than to blow up mess up spaceport radars and shoot out neon lamps, after all.

Plus, the Decepticons wanted to destroy the Autobots. Out of spite, Skywarp had immediately agreed.

"What've our leader assigned us to again? I wasn't paying attention."

Thrust was never the most eloquent. He was, at his best of moments, a jerk. At his worst, he was a thug for hire, not caring as long as he got paid. One of his last jobs had gotten him in trouble with the Autobots. His punishment was to be sent away from Cybertron on the same ship as Lugnut and Skywarp.

When Megatron came and freed them, Thrust was thankful, and more than a little ready for some revenge. He had been content to stick with ruffing up the odd bot for payment. Now his talents were going to be used in much better fashion, even if it wasn't on this particular mission.

Thrust dove in beside Skywarp, pulling up as he approached the ground and transformed. "From what I heard, this is a baby-sitting mission. Not much action."

Kaon, Penthouse

Deathsaurus leaned back in his chair, and looked out onto the city. It was difficult to find a good view in Kaon, but next to the governor's palace, he had the best. The city was flawed, but he was working towards improving it. He serpent a lot of money on urban renewal programs, and had set up most of his factories to reduce pollution. No point owning a ruined city, after all.

More than anything else, however, hope for Kaon rest in Megatron. Deathsaurus paid little attention to the gladiator games, content to let Clench keep control of that area, but once Megatron started getting political, Deathsaurus was drawn in. Megatron had ideals and charisma, but outside of the arena, he had little influence. That's where Deathsaurus came in. By focusing just a little bit of attention on Megatron, Deathsaurus had gotten the name out there. Then, all he had to do was sit back and wait for Megatron's natural charm to do its work. When Megatron decided to run for governor, Deathsaurus was there. He donated money, supplied venues, hired a campaign staff; everything he could to ensure Megatron's election.

Deathsaurus had no idea why the boy's idealism impressed him so, but it seemed to be just what Kaon needed.

Space, Approaching Cybertron
Sky-Byte strolled onto the bridge of the Sharp Edge. His exploratory mission had been a success; his crew had found a resource planet near enough to be cost-effective. A job well done, albeit unsatisfying to do. But soon he would be home, and then he would receive another commendation. He liked commendations. When we reached the front of the bridge, he twirled around to the crew and spread his arms wide, "Friends! An excellent performance from all of you. You've been a pleasure to work with, and I thank you for the lack of mutiny. As a special reward for your outstanding service, you're all invited to drinks on me!" He allowed a second for gratitude, "But use a coaster please. I stain." Gaping silence. "A-hem. Well, anyway, I'll meet you all at dock for debriefing."

Default ooc: just realized my intro posts are THAT long. :o

Kaon Polytechnic Institute

Scorponok stalked towards the large, imposing building of the Kaon Polytechnic Institute. He had to crouch to enter the transparent doors made from a steel-silicon polymer, dulled over the years of exposure to Kaon's environment. Scorponok supposed at one point the building might have been grand, but as with everything else on Kaon it had lost much of its lustre.

The fallen Senator crouched even more than usual to admit himself through the doors — why do people construct doors so low when the interior of the building was much higher? — and scowled when the tip of his tail slammed against the top of the wall, adding to the collection of dents on the poor building.

The staff ignored Scorponok. Those that knew his frequent arrivals to meet Predacon knew that he was a studied mech despite his brutish exterior, while the others were scared because of it.

He saw a sickly rust-covered wretch in a hover chair (Finback) and winced. While he was no stranger to fights, as a Senator living in the high rise Scorponok never had to deal with diseases like these. Someone should put that poor slagger out of his misery.

Scorponok stalked through the corridors, making very little noise considering his bulk. Mechs steered clear of his way, and Scorponok allowed himself to indulge in a little smile as he veered towards the Advanced Research Laboratories. Predacon must be in there, experimenting on some weird technology. Techno-organic bodies, perhaps. Or Transfrmers six times smaller than the norm. Or even more radical forms of mass-shifting.

Scorponok raised a claw and rapped the knuckle against the door several times. "Predacon, it's me."

"Grow up." Lugnut growled at Skywarp's antics, and the other Decepticon's seeming lack of interest in paying attention to what the glorious Megatron had told them to do. He considered cuffing the smaller Decepticon upside the head, but assumed he would just teleport out of the way.

"We are here to collect two scientists," he agreed with Thrust. "There will only be action if we can't convince them to come with us. If they don't..." He shrugged his massive shoulders. "If they don't, well, that's what we've got a teleporter for."

Government House, Kolkular

Megatron instinctively looked up from the report he was reading as Venom's call came through. Truth be told, the Decepticon leader was glad for the interruption. The preparations for Kaon and her allies' formal succession -- which Venom's speech would announce -- were well underway, now. But even though his departments had taken on a life of their own, there were still mountains of paperwork that needed his signature and only so much of that could be put off or delegated.

He opened the file that Venom had sent him, and smiled slightly. "Thank you. Come down to my office in half an hour and we can discuss some revisions I'd like to make."

He hadn't actually decided on any revisions yet, but he knew there would be some. Venom's writing was more than adequate, but Megatron always took great pains to make sure that what he was saying sounded like it was something he would say. After all, he'd risen to fame as a gladiator, not an academic. He didn't want to sound like he'd abandoned his roots...especially since he had.

"Was watching a gladiator fight. Fastest way to get here. Betted on Grimlock, won." Skywarp told Lugnut, grinning and flashing a stack of credits in his hand. He turned to Thrust, giving his red lookalike a grin to acknowledge his answer.

He didn't blame Lugnut for being so serious... his friend's fanaticism was what made him so fun to be around.

"Escort job? Doesn't sound that hard, fellas. Which ship are they coming in?" Skywarp asked, his expression telling his two comrades that he was hoping for resistance.

"Predacon, can I enter?"

"They're not," Lugnut told Skywarp holding back the groan of frustration that he just knew the other Decepticon was waiting for and wondering why the seeker couldn't bother to pay attention in the briefing. "They're coming in on their own. Fliers, like us."

Predacon looked up when he heard the knock at his door. Actually, 'knock' was a bit of an understatement -- the door bowed in on its' hinges when Scorponok clobbered it.

"Come in, come in," he said, his enthusiasm for his latest project bleeding over into everything else.

He came upon the names and pictures soon enough. "Oo, a Seeker model! Whasisname... Star-scream. Must be quite a loud screamer, eh? And Jet-fire... A jet that shoots out fire?"

"Biggest problem will be if they decide to run. Guess that's why we have 2 Seekers here - to chase them down. Plus Skywarp's powers will come in handy with that as well." Thrust said, stretching his servos as he finished.

Wheeljack's Work Shop

Wheeljack's workshop has an always expanding inventory of all kinds of mechanical stuff lying around. Most of it is still in an experimental phase with some others in test phase.

Wheeljack liked working in Kaon on his inventions. There were way too many rules and regulations for him to deal with back in Iacon and it limited his creative thinking. Ever since Megatron took over Kaon, he had no trouble with the government at all and they let him be. They only checked up on him from time to time to see what he had created so far.

One of the reasons why there's so much unfinished work lying around is because Zeta Prime's lackey's ordered him to stop any further development on them. Wheeljack's just glad that they didn't take it with them. Probably because they wouldn't know what to do with it since only he knew what they were for. He did as he was told though. Wheeljack's intentions were always good and his inventions were always meant to help Cybertronians.

Now with Zeta Prime out of the picture and Megatron in, he could finally continue to work on the projects that he had lying around. The current project that he was working on was labeled The Pretender Vehicle Project. It’s currently in its test phase though.

The Pretender Vehicle Project was an idea that he had a long time ago. Soldiers moving around in a vehicle that could function as a decoy as the Cybertronian inside stepped out of it. The Cybertronian inside could send out the Pretender for basic recon and all audio and video could be instantly monitor by the one controlling the vehicle from a distance.

There was a disadvantage to this though. In order for the vehicle to respond to the Cybertronian's commands, the Pretender Vehicle and the Cybertronian needed to be linked to each other. While that was not the disadvantage per se, it could cause some for of stress to the mech.

When Wheeljack was done entering this data in his log, he spun around in his chair and walked over to the Pretender Vehicle where his assistant was working on it. "Hey Highbrow how's it going so far? There's somebody coming over here to test this thing out for us and if it's a success, it could give the army an advantage over their enemies," he said a little anxiously. "Make sure that this thing is going to be perfectly in synch with the mech or else we'll fry his brain module."

Highbrow looked up from his work and turned to Wheeljack. "How long until said bot arrives? Some of the nuiances are proving problematic. We are near completion, but we have not had adequate time to fully trouble shoot the prototype yet. I could not, at this time, guarantee with 100 % certainty that it is safe to use."

Lugnut groaned. "Ant thank you so much for announcing our objectives to the entire spaceport," he said to Skywarp and Thrust. "We're in a public place. Do you really need to be so...obvious about it?"

"'We' are doing nothing," Predacon told Scorponok. "But I've devised a code patch that should let us generate new protoforms with more than one alternate mode. Of course, to test it I'll need to get my hands on a Vector computer."

He looked around, exaggeratedly. "I can't seem to find one here. Guess we'll have to go shopping, hmm?"

Kaon, Penthouse

Deathsaurus turned from the window and rose to his feet. There was work to be done, and little time left to do it in.

He pressed a few buttons on his desk comm. "Astrtrain, Dirge, I feel like taking a walk. Do accompany me, if you please."

From his desk, he pocketed a small pistol, and a case of energon goodies and a holder, and a small bottle of finest electrum.

Then he stepped out into the hallway and into an elevator.

----------------

Kaon, below the penthouse

"Hmm? Yes, yes, of course sir. I'll meet you at the door." Astrotrain hurriedly downloaded the reports Deathsaurus might ask about, then downed a glass of hard oil. Deathy is not going to be happy with me. Not at all. He hurried out to an elevator, crunching numbers all the way to the ground floor.

"In my defense, I only read out the names of these guys." Skywarp told Lugnut, disappearing and reappearing on the larger Decepticon's other side. "Plus, the spaceport is more or less deserted. Why so tense today, big guy?"

Humming a tune, Skywarp detached the long-barreled machinegun from his left shoulder and began to reload it, snapping in a fresh cartridge of bullets.

"Ingenuous." Scorponok told Predacon, ignoring his associate's little sarcasm. The larger Transformer loomed behind Predacon, and asked, "So you're messing around with the software instead of the body of the Protoforms? Mmm, that way we could birth multi-changers much more easily."

Scorponok scratched his chin with one claw, trying to put his head around the advancement that Predacon had made. He chuckled. "I imagine that the damned church templars wouldn't be pleased if they heard of this, no. Too bad we never pay any attention to them, mmm?"

The former Senator shrugged at Predacon's last sentence, smirking. "So we're going to try and hijack a Vector computer? Somehow I don't think that the guardians to the Vector computers would allow you to use it for your purposes. And I alone won't exactly be intimidating enough to let us shoulder our way in..."

Scorponok guessed that Predacon would be utilizing troops from this 'Decepticon' movement which his friend has apparently joined. Scorponok himself had considered joining, out of spite against the Autobots, but he wasn't convinced if a rebel group would be right for Cybertron. Corrupt an entrepreneur as he was, he didn't fancy a war...

War meant losses of resources... of innocent civilians...
