Went for the aforementioned Dalek film twinpack as they're unlikely to make The Shelves anyway unless I develop a hatred of good films suddenly. The first one was a lot worse than I remembered, the second one a lot better without actually being decent. I must've seen a hundred Peter Cushing films and these are the only ones he's bad in.

Casino Royale 2008 BR. The third time was the charm for the first James Bond novel (yes I have seen the TV show and the spoof film versions they both suck for different reasons) and Daniel Craig gives a damn good performance in his first outting as Bond.

The Transformers: Prime season 1 BR the first season of the current TF series.
The Transformers: Prime season 2 BR the second season of the current TF series.
Farscape: The Complete Series on BR, A great sci-fi show with a lot of thrills and humor.

Pokemon Movie Kyurem vs Sword Of Justice, Justified season 3, Archer season 3

Pokemon Movie: Kyurem vs Sword Of Justice: I think it's the 14th or 15th movie in the series and the 2nd in the Black & White story arc. It also came with a Pokemon trading card.

Justified season 3: The third season of this great show, starring Timothy Olyphant as the main character, Raylan Givens and Walton Goggins as Boyd Crowders.

Archer season 3: The third season of this hilarious cartoon about a secret agent who isn't very secretive.

I don't know if its nostalgia or just poor taste, but I love the Dalek films. The second one at least. I think its just that it actually makes the Daleks pretty threatening. I was pretty scared of them as a kiddywink.

Anyhoo;

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 2: Colon: Subtitle Ostensibly, I bought this for the missus so she wouldn't complain about me buying myself the new Bowie album. But really, I don't even mind these books/ films. And say what you will about it, you can't deny this one has a great fight at the end. I'd read the book, so I knew the ending, but for anyone who hadn't, this fight had genuine peril for its characters and real drama to it; something Avengers Assemble absolutely failed to provide. So I'm gonna go right ahead and say it- Twilight had better action than the Avengers in 2012.

The Fourth Kind Obscuro-horror about alien abductions. Close encounters are something that has always scared me since I got really into this sort of gubbins as a kid. So I was expecting this film to scare my pants off and it did get tense in places, but by the end it failed to deliver. The "found footage"/ reenactment dynamic did have me questioning it a bit, which added to the fear in a fairly decent way.

You know, my main thought whilst watching the three and a half hour documentary on the Blade Runner Blu Ray set was that all the pain, humiliation, suffering and degradation Scott went through making that film must have given him a pretty good idea what it's like to watch Prometheus.

Dredd, Star Wars Lego Empire Strikes Out, Hellsing Ultimate 2

Dredd: A vastly superior movie to the one starring Sylvester Stallone, this starring Karl Urban, where he and Judge Anderson work together to remove Ma-Ma and her Slo-mo drug manufacturing.

Star Wars Lego: Empire Strikes Out: A short Lego parody that takes place between Episode 4: A New Hope and Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back.

Hellsing Ultimate: Collection 2: I have been waiting 5 to 6 years for the english dub of this OAV's and they don't disappoint, they are able to get all of the voice actors back and Crispin Freeman is, as always, awesome as Alucard.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life DVD I bought this one at Disc Replay (a store that buys and sells used DVDs, Blu-Rays, CDs, and video games) for $3 and it's good that I bought it there I would have felt ripped off if I paid more that $5 for this dull, predictable, and lifeless movie.

Les Miserables (2012) Blu-Ray/DVD combo set this is the fastest version of the story yet. The songs are great, even if Russell Crowe isn't the best singer in the world (he really tries but IMHO he's the weakest singer of the cast) and Carter and Cohen seem like they're still in Sweeney Todd and feel like they're out of place with the rest of the film, maybe that is the point of them being in the film.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Blu-Ray/DVD combo set. I bought this film to see Christopher Lee (the same reason why I ever watched with The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars episodes II and III) more than anything else. The rest of the cast is nice and the 3D effects aren't as annoying as some films I've seen in 2D.

Due to my new interest in collecting certain Lego sets, I have significantly cut down on how many DVD's I buy a week.

For this week it's WWE Royal Rumble 2013 and Skyfall Steel book edition.

WWE Royal Rumble 2013 is a PPV I get every year regardless of overall match quality.

Skyfall is the most recent of the 007 movies, and some say to be one of the most highly regarded, possibly being on par with/or better than Casino Royale, which also starred Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond.

Lincoln Blu-Ray/DVD combo I think Schindler's List is Spielberg's greatest film but this would be a very close second. Lewis' portrayal of Lincoln is great and the supporting cast is equally great. It's just a great movie.

Aladdin 3 Movie Collection: Aladdin/The Return of Jafar/Aladdin and the King of Thieves, Avengers Earths Mightiest Heroes, The: Complete Second Season, Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie.

Aladdin Trilogy: Great first movie with Robin Williams voicing Genie and two decent sequels.
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes: Great second season to a unfortunately cancelled cartoon that had such a good reception.
Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 movie: Don't know much about this one.

I have bought all six Region 2 TF Animated DVDs (no spiffy box sets for us Europeans, because cartoons are for kids and they don't deserve them) and Beast Wars vol 2 Region 2 DVD. Such a shame Beast Wars is still without a full series release over here..and after we got curiosities like Masterforce too...

voltron force planet doom, iron man armoured adventures 2, astonishing x-men quad, red dawn 2009.

Voltron Force: Planet Doom: the last volume of what appears to be a single season run of a decent Voltron cartoon.
Iron Man Armoured Adventures season 2: I think it's been two years since I watched the first season of this show. Why did it take so damn long!
Astonishing X-Men Quadrilogy: A motion comic of a stellar Joss Whedon comic.
Red Dawn (2009): Average remake of an 80's movie starring two Australians.

Monsieur Verdoux Blu-Ray Chaplin's first major film where he doesn't play the Little Tramp where he plays a Depression-Era French Bluebeard lady killer. Pretty good film not as great as The Great Dictator and Modern Times though and a bit long though.

Caprica: Season 1.5-The second half of BSG prequel series is surprising very good despite being rushed and "a what happens next" coda on the final episode.

Incredibly obscure 1965 ITV SF show Undermind:

http://networkonair.com/shop/1528-un...te-series.html

Mainly because of the combination of some of Who's best writers (and Bill Sutton) combined with the joy of seeing frequent bit part actor Wilkin get to play the lead for a change.

Having seen the first one, it's nicely played and has a lot of potential (and the X-Files conspiracy stuff was way ahead of the curve) and also has some lovely location footage of '60's London.

But, at least in this first one, the idea of what it takes to completely demoralise the British public has aged badly. Captain Picard's brother (weirdly the synopsis there makes it sound like his policeman character is the focus of the series, when it looks like he's only in the first one), under evil mind control forces the resignation of an MP by... goading the guy into punching him. The idea it'd be that easy or that people would even care is rather sweet.

Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 3
A science fiction series from the late 80s/ early 90s that is a sequel to the 60s series Star Trek. Its set quite a few years after the original series, and mostly features an entirely new cast. It follows the adventures of an exploration starship some hundreds of years in the future as it explores new planets and meets new life forms.
I enjoyed the first two series and am looking forward to watching this one.

If you've not seen it before season 3 has some of the best standalone 45 minute episodes of any American SF show.

Unless I've got it any time on BBC2 or something, this is my first time through the whole series. That's good to hear; Season 1 hadn't found itself and Season 2 had an annoying doctor, so my hopes are high for this one.

I bought Castle season 4 and Rise Of The Guardians.

Castle Season 4: Good procedural starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic and the the very cute Molly Quinn.

Rise Of The Guardians: A kids movie, based on The Guardians Of Childhood, starring Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher, Alec Baldwin and Chris Pine.

Wreck-It Ralph, Iron Man: Rise Of Technovore and House M.D season 8.

I haven't watched Wreck-It Ralph yet, but I hear it's hilarious.

Iron Man: Rise Of Technovore was decent at best, but they did have Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead fame voice The Punisher, so that was good.

So, I've watched Babylon 5 spin offs Crusade and Legend of the Rangers properly for the first time (properly in that I'd seen the odd episode of Crusade and bits of the Sci Fi film before but never sat down to watch both all the way through).

Crusade was actually better than I remembered it being (which was bloody awful). It's problem is it doesn't have any of the things that made B5 itself feel special and groundbreaking, instead just about every episode feels like it escaped from a mediocre Star Trek spin-off (though to be fair, all 13 would qualify for the best ever episode of Voyager if transplanted to that show), even down to remaking Lonely Among Us in the uniform change episode. The series is mainly carried by the excellent cast, it's a crying shame Gary Cole never got to be the lead in a series that didn't get quickly cancelled as he deserves to be one of the biggest names in TV.

That's not to say it isn't always watchable (the grey uniform episodes were slightly worse, but then that's what happens when you put all the finding their feet filmed first episodes at the end of a series) and it I understand all the behind the scenes problems that meant it never got to be what it might have, but frankly I wasn't hugely bothered by the thing having been canned.

Oh, and the X-Files spoof episode was terrible. Partially because it was about four years too late (not only was the X-Files way past its peak it had started sending itself up by this time far more successfully), partly because spoofing another sci-fi series when JMS has his fair share of constantly used tropes and weak points made it feel like everyone was sitting on a big pile of stones in a giant glass house but mainly because it has no jokes. Just dressing up aliens as Mulder and Scully isn't enough to be funny.

Rangers had all the weakness of Crusade, and none of the pluses. other than G'kar (who seemed out of character, when one of the aliens suggests he's gone a bit odd it's hard to disagree) there isn't a single memorable character in the whole thing, big one dimensional planks of wood all. As ropey as much of the acting in the B5 pilot is, you still had G'Kar and Londo making a big memorable impression to counter Sinclair's oak like visage.
