According to the Q&A on the website now, the next release date is indeed "late August".

Or could be about now-ish. There's some reports of it being in stores today. Apparantly a few places in California and saw one reference to Arizona.

I held him in my hands today at my TRU. The stocker had the box on the floor but hadn't put them out. He freaked out when he saw what it was and said he'd be keeping one in back for himself.

It looks great, but not $120 great. Probably not even $60 great in my opinion, but I'm getting to where I don't like to spend more than $20 on any Transformer. Stupid adult-onset responsibility.

Mine showed up wednesday and it's insane. Stupidly fantastic figure. Lots of articulation, seems like it can handle a wide variety of poses. As stupid as it is I'm even impressed by the alt-mode. Yeah, it's a brick and kinda impossible to get wrong, but it looks exactly like you'd expect cartoon Soundwave to look. Like it fell out of the TV or something.

Value is a subjective thing. I'd say he's worth the cost, considering the awesomeness of the mold and the 5 cassettes he comes with. Especially with the engineering involved. I'm still shocked they got that nice of a Laserbeak/Buzzsaw out of the cassette with no add-ons.
And compared to the Japanese release, this is a freaking steal.

That's insulting.

To poo, that is. Poo is at least useful as fertilizer and has a place in the circle of life and stuff.

Got mine today at TRU, they had a small shipment come in and were keeping them at the service desk.

I just unpacked it. Not too bad. The paint apps on Buzzsaw/Laserbeak are just slightly messy, and I noted the index finger on Soundwave's right hand wants to slide off if you're rough with it.

Sister spotted him and Acid Storm at TRU UK's website, placeholder pages with no order button.

Both cost numerically the same as the US versions, but in GBP. Either nets you free shipping.

I am now praying to find something that pays until mid August.

Few stuff in the UK to trade/sell. Measly sales thread.

I saw one other reviewer mention that later. After a couple of momentary curse words I got better at adjusting it so it won't pop out, but it does annoy me.

Toysrus.ca now has listings up for:

Masterpiece Soundwave at $119.99
Masterpiece Acid Storm at $79.99
TF Platinum Edition Optimus Prime (Year of the Horse) at $149.99
TF Platinum Edition Grimlock vs Brutucus at $149.99
TF Supreme Starscream CNY Platinum at $119.99

Optimus could be a re-release of MP-10 with a new deco and I'm wondering if Supreme Starscream is a re-release of the huge Cybertron figure from a few years ago. Seeing as most of these Platinum figures are re-releases of older figures it seems like it could be.

And the listings are all gone, except for Soundwave, already. Not sure what it is with Toysrus.ca and listings that don't last long.

Yes, it disappeared on our side two days ago and came back. I don't get it. You'd think they could update the damn thing...

My TRU had another Soundwave on the shelf, as well as an Acid Storm. The guy stocking said that he just heard about them a couple days ago and was considering buying up all the stock as they came in because they were going for crazy prices on eBay. I told him that scalpers make children (and grown men) cry.

Well, you know what they say; it isn't the fool who sells...

It feels like it's MP-10 all over again. Except, you know, this time you don't have the option of just going for the Takara version. Well, you do, but good luck tracking down the cassettes separately. It might actually be cheaper to just buy the Hasbro version anyway, even at scalper prices.

Speaking of which, I did check ebay for how much he does go, sorting by price starting from the lowest, all the ones actually being sold at the SRP were missing the cassettes. Why? Are they planning to turn in profit selling them separately? One particularily infuriating listing actually said "complete" in the listing but mentioned "does not include the cassettes" in the description! THAT'S NOT "COMPLETE" YOU STUPID BASTARD!

Some of them might be bastards trying to flip the tapes in a separate sale, but others are probably people who bought the Takara Soundwave but either couldn't get the tape sets or waited for the Hasbro Soundwave (since he costs, what, ten bucks more than the two Takara cassette packs?) and are now trying to get rid of the extra Soundwave they don't need.

See, I could understand if it's the latter, but why is Laserbeak missing as well?
