Oh yes, and I seem to have left it late as I've been told for months that August 2015 is fully booked up (we're only allowed two people off our department at any one time. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA) and I should have gotten in there earlier, the fact they've moved the weekend has vindicated my decision to wait and see.

Of course, I'm still unlikely to get it off (though the standing rumour is that if they taken longer than a week to get your form back to you, you can assume you've got it off anyway. I don't think anyone has put that to the test though), but I can still be smug. I'll probably have to do some shift swaps for the Thursday, Sunday and Monday nights.

Or give a lot of blow jobs/flip a lot of fanny flaps.

Either or.

Not definitely saying I'll attend...I have this dreadful feeling that if I make it, AA 2015 will be more "loitering around the same damn toys you saw the past 2 years on the dealer tables while trying to enjoy your 5 pounds beer/coffee in between"
Next year: Bring our own booze and decamp to someone's room and get sloshed in there.

On the Sunday Ryan, Summerhayes and I went to the Whetherspoon's at the NEC, those of us who go next year might be braver in exploring that area and the airport for cheaper eateries (though according to twitter the All Bar None at the airport gave out a mass amount of food poisoning).

Wetherspoons only seemed to be open for a few hours in the early afternoon, which I thought was odd.

Bringing own booze is probably a cleverer thing to do.

...I just brought my own tea and coffee this year.

I was right by the airport, I should have investigated the places in there. Silly me. I just walked through it to get the exciting space monorail back and forth.

Obviously.

I mean, if someone came up to me and said "Would you rather go to the pub or... come on the SPACE MONORAIL?" I'd be all "SPACE MONORAIL? **** yeah!" every time.

Yeah, Subway or Wetherspoons... it's just a shame the venue itself is so hostile in terms of main gathering areas.

If I book for next year and do the two days will probably stay over, so getting moderately pissed on the first day would be an option.

edit: Hilton coke and hipflask would be the subversive option. Or maybe powdered alcohol if it's easy enough to source by then.

Still think it's more of a one-day convention overall.

Did anyone happen to catch what issue number of Marvel Fact Files Death's Head was in that Mr Furman was showing off?

I've been trying to find this out... but am drawing a blank.

Will confirm when it arrives.

Oh cool, thanks mister. Hope it is issue 55 - loving that Mayhew Mystique cover - his covers are what sucked me into buying Mystique's comic (which turned out to be ACE - so that was a stroke of luck).

Checked out the ebay listing - there's a pic of Death's Head on there, I'll have a punt for 3. Cheers, Denyer

Issue 55 is the Death's Head one my copy arrived today. Its a good partwork, on this evidence. If I had the space, I'd pick up some others.

Good news everyone! Thanks to my store's current policy of trying to suspend and/or sack everyone (part of a crack down on thieves, we wouldn't want 250 million going missing now would we?) it seems that if August was fully booked it has been freed up rapidly and I had no trouble getting the fortnight off.

I won't be booking my ticket till the payday after Budiansky Day, but bar horrific death I will be there as always for the whole weekend.

So yeah, I'm all booked up like a boss for 2015.

Time to start saving to afford a beer then.

LOL

I ain't sure if I'm going for 2015. Between the general meh event, the completely MEH merchandise [buy LDR Jetfire and VYGR Roadbuster and Skybyte! Buy overpriced alts or forgotten and tossed around loose movie toys for through the roof prices!] and the generally uninteresting events, I'm not sure I want to commit to a 400 pounds + weekend for this coming August

Few stuff in the UK to trade/sell. Measly sales thread.

Hotel bookings have started, and they seem to have instantly sold out of rooms for Wednesday and Thursday (which as non convention days have a smaller allocation at the cheaper rate), anyone going for the Friday-Sunday shouldn't have a problem, andd if you go without breakfast you can get rooms earlier in the week for only a few quid more.

Hotel all booked, I'll definitely be there - last year was my first AA and a great deal of fun so I'm looking forward to being there again.

Not booked anything yet, not entirely sure I'll make it this year folks. Though this might change later on.

Not going. Another kid planned so probably not going next year, either.

Was that the quid pro quo for letting Hound have a Devastator? At least a baby can bend its arms, meaning s/he will be able to lord it up over the Constructicons.

That is so much bullshit! But whatever.

The next one will get a comparison shot with Devastator.

Yeah, we're out too.

Taking a one month old on a trans-Atlantic flight doesn't sound like much fun. Neither does wandering around a convention with said one month old, or stopping every thirty minutes so my wife can feed it.

One day, though. I hope.
