What's with the sudden burst of spam threads in the past day or two?

Did the registration captcha break or something?

...do we even have a registration captcha?

Security question rather than CAPTCHA (unless I can retro-fit one of the better Flash-based CAPTCHA solutions they're not very good, and it'd interfere with tablets and accessibility) -- which is currently set to [Please type "tobmapsatonmai" backwards].

Time to change the question(s) again to something a bit more obtuse but still human-friendly, basically.
