Re: [The video game thread]

Have tried time and again to get in to Skyrim but it's just not for me. I've found, as I've gotten older, that the bigger and more open-world a game is the less likely I am to enjoy it. Spider-man was the only game that broke the mould in that run but I can probably point to the license on that as ...

Re: [The video game thread]

Speaking of good, old games, I'm currently playing Skyrim for the first time ever. Good game once I found the factions that weren't just straight up asking me to participate in race wars.

I didn't know Sam Witwer was in it. I always found him very likeable. Might give it a look next time I see it on sale.

Re: Thank you

Those early 2000s drink-ups will always be dear memories, back in the days when everyone thought I was crazy for inviting a bunch of internet "strangers" round to my place and I'd definitely get murdered. Likewise I've been a bit crap at staying in touch with most people, I still see Jetfi...

Re: [The video game thread]

I've not played Party Hard but I've seen it played. Strikes me as the type of game I'd likely enjoy. Have you played the Hotline Miami games or Not A Hero at all, they're very similar in presentation and Hotline is very similar in gameplay style. I finished Hotline Miami, haven't really gotten into...

Re: [The video game thread]

Not sure what I'll play next. Possibly either The Sexy Brutale, because I need more time-travelling puzzle games in my life clearly, or What Remains of Edith Finch? because I need more dark story driven puzzle games in my life clearly. I really like Sexy Brutale (haven't finished it yet though). Fo...

And now I'm back back! And this time, no force in the universe can stop me!

Also still not dead. Just old! Closest I get to fandom these days is mooching around the Toy shops if I happen to be passing through Akihabara. Everything is a headmaster now, love that. Not bought a fig in years though, they're way too expensive in Japan. Started reading the IDW stuff recently, whi...

To be clear, I didn't have an issue with the restoration itself. My issue is the fact that Stark, who was in his right mind during the events of Civil War and after and acted according to what was happening, looks at it post-restore and is immediately horrified. Stark, who never admitted to any act...

I feel kind of bad for taking this long to realize this. But when Vastra accuses Clara of having hung out with the Doctor all this time only because he was attractive, she wasn't saying that just to her - she was saying that to the audience as well. Really? Because I found it the most heavy handed,...

If you think the UK's tough you wouldn't even want to know about Japan.
Last time I was in a similar situation I moved into an affordable apartment and lived with bare minimum furniture, which I then added to/replaced as I could afford it.

I'm currently trying Dark Souls again. After watching the review on Zero Punctuation which pointed out that if you read a bit of intsruction on the wiki to help you get started then it's really good, I dived in. And once you get over that massive hump at the beginning, he's not wrong. It takes time ...

Never ever get into debt is a noble goal, but sometimes shit happens. I hope it never happens to you (certainly don't do it willingly), but if it does then I'd say this. Don't be too proud to accept help, but be careful where you accept it from, continue to keep a budget, no matter how depressing lo...

Cheers for the spolier!

I couldn't finish the first Harry Potter book. Found the films entertaining enough from the third on, but every criticism levelled in this thread seems fair.

Other side of the world, as I recall. He just Batmanned back in no time once his back was magically healed, even though we were specifically told at the start of the film that he had no cartliage left in his knees. Do you know how fast someone with no cartilage walks? They don't. It was a stupid mov...

I also remember reading that most films botch the geography of Washington DC. Key point is that it doesn't have any skyscrapers. The Washington monument is the tallest structure in the area. I'd call that more artistic license than botched though. The name Washington DC is shorthand for "a ver...

Speaking of which, have you ever tried Disgaea? If not you should pick up the DS version of the first one and give it a go.
